I think it may not be an endorsement that McCain would want.

Is that why it's just come out? I mean, why doesn't he just wait til Monday? Or maybe Tues afternoon? Or why bother at all? I've always wondered about the timing of these things...

Just a thought...no proof...Cheney wants to assure a McCain loss, so the party can make needed changes within its ranks.

>>The real power in the party could be a Cheney-like puppet master (like Cheney has pulled the strings in the Bush administration) with a relatively empty suit (like Palin)<<

God help us if we get fooled again!

Interesting theory. Cheney knows how unpopular he is.

You mean Cheney's endorsement was Cheney giving McCain the kiss of political death because Cheney is done with McCain in favor of the more radical Palin? I could see how Cheney might like Palin. Palin would probably make as bad a Vice President as Cheney, and that's saying a lot.

I never thought of that theory but it seems to make a lot of sense.

Sort of...I think that the Cheney-wing of the party (neocons) knows that what they've been selling hasn't done so well, so they know that next time around, they're going to need an empty suit (like Palin) who can stoke up the base (appeal to the base's baser instincts - if you know what I mean) and be charismatic enough to actually win an election.
