What's going on?

I was composing a response in the Obama: Plan to Bankrupt Coal Industry thread. When the time came to post that response, the thread had gone bye-bye. And in the posts I've read since that attempt, there are parentheses after some iVillage members' names, abbreviations of their handles or long numbers that weren't there this morning.

Is anybody else seeing these changes or have I snapped after one too many political robo-calls?!

Never have paid for an account but have been posting under this handle for awhile (since February 2003). Can't figure out the rhyme or reason for the paren. characters or why some members have them and others don't.

Nor is there any explanation of why the Obama coal thread went off into the iVillage ether. There was a time when whole threads disappeared but usually there was some sort of posting about those threads being under review--not that any of them ever returned! Lately it seemed more prevalent that individual offending posts were pulled.

"Weird" is the word.

I doubt the coal thread will re-surface. No amount of digging is likely to result in hitting the bearing seam. And too vigorous excavating will probably result in a cave-in--metaphorically speaking!
