I think it was incredibly bad taste also. What if it would have been a relative of McCain? I would hope the Democrats wouldn't of made such an issue of it.

That was also my thinking (and I'm sure an argument can be made to legitimately justify the expense). Too bad he didn't manage to squeeze in a bit of clothes shopping while he was at it....Then it would have been OK.

Also, considering much of his campaign was financed by individuals (LOTS of them) making small donations, I can't imagine there would be too many Obama supporters who donated the money in the first place, who would begrudge him using some of that money for this particular reason.
