I thought it might be fun for those of us who vote today to report in as they do.

My DD(18yo and first election) and I arrived at our polling location at 6:45AM, doors opened at 7:00AM, we were #111 and 112 to vote. There were probably another 75-80 people behind us with a steady stream of cars pulling into the parking lot. We live in a fairly rural area of PA and this is the heaviest turn out I've ever seen.

I woke up super early today, so excited. hehe

Anyway, we always planned on going after work. But we did drive by our new polling place, and saw a lot of cars out there. And about 50 people waiting outside in line.

Hopefully we won't get rained on while waiting in line this afternoon.

I got to my polling place in Minnesota about 6:50 this morning and the line wasn't too bad. I was done by 7:30 and was the 75 person to vote there this morning. There was still a steady stream of people behind me! Happy voting everyone!

Got to the poll in my neighborhood in NYC at 8 am and the line was around the block, but it moved relatively quickly. Took about 45 minutes altogether. Someone on line told me they got there at 6:30 (polls are supposed to open at 6 here) and the local election board hadn't showed up yet, but the line was wayyy down the block. Heard some older woman bitching about how so many of these people were taking a long time to vote because they'd never voted before. "But now there's a minority candidate and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread." Awesome people, way to bitch about voter turnout. Anyway, I'm impressed so many people cared when our votes won't make much of a difference in the national election and there aren't any controversial ballot measures.

I live in Maryland which is a blue state, but I live in a red county. My polling place is a small museum which seems to have mostly retired people - in all the time I have rarely seen anyone my age or younger voting there. The parking lot was nearly empty at 8:30 when we voted and the only one I waited in line behind was my daughter. We went to breakfast at IHop afterwards and I was happy to see most of the customers had 'I voted' stickers. I start my poll watching shift in about an hour, so maybe I will see more turn out as the day progresses, it seems very light here so far.

My Dh, myself and my son will go early this evening. We have never had to wait long to vote in my rinky dink town. LOL. I am sure our local Represenative in DC who is Republican will win again, but I am hoping that Obama wins in my area, it will probably be very close either way.
