Obama Wins Pennsylvania, Networks Say
By Greg Sargent - November 4, 2008, 8:00PM

MSNBC and ABC call McCain's "last stand" state for Obama.

That's a very early call, suggesting a big, big win.

More soon.

Late Update: The exit polls suggest that Obama won solid victories among key groups: He won among voters with only a high-school education, among Catholics, decisively among independents, among men, white women, among whites making under $50,000, and among voters of all age groups, including 65 or over. http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/11/obama_wins_pennsylvania_networ.php

" The Republicans really aren't an option. They're just too far out in la la land."

Yes, when I say keep the focus on them, I mean no more letting them get away with blatant hypocrisy that has plagued them since their resurgence in 1994. Newt proclaimed the Republicans would be more moral in his contract with America, and soon afterwards Newt and Tom DeLay were looking to impeach and destroy Clinton for lawbreaking involving infidelity when Newt and Tom were having affairs of their own at the time, with Newt dumping his wife when she was very sick. No I don't forgive Clinton for what he did. And I don't forgive the Republicans for their hypocrisy. Another one calling Clinton a naughty naughty boy at the time was bathroom solicitor Senator Craig, and prostitute loverman Senator Vitter.

And we let the Republicans hijack the airwaves with their alliance with Murdoch and Fox. To an unprecedented degree, the Republicans punished any network other than Fox that dared disagree with them. And they could rely on Fox to lead the media to do whatever the Republicans wanted.

We can't let the Republican politicians or Murdoch creep up on us like they did again. I don't mind if the Republicans reform themselves and make an honest living of politics. What I do mind is their present incompetence, corruption and hypocrisy that they can't seem to rid themselves of. So no Republicans really are not an option now. As long as they don't reform themselves, we've got to keep it that way.

No more Bushes. No Palins. No more letting Republican politicians, media, or bloggers for that matter, say things that are contradicted by the facts or that are just plain hateful without holding them accountable.

We're coming back to reality (fingers crossed). We're coming back.

I have a close friend who has worked the polls for years in PA. She also said she would be there until at least Midnight.

I agree with you. The danger right now, as far as I'm concerned, is that Americans will think we're over the hump. We can rest easy now that Republicans have been removed from power. That's just not the case.

I agree. But I did read somewhere that a bunch of them are going to be gone.

"The danger right now, as far as I'm concerned, is that Americans will think we're over the hump. "

Yes. Look at Nixon. A quick pardon, Carter gets elected, and Democrats think they are done. Four years later Reagan brings the Republicans back to power, and Nixon cronies Cheney and Rumsfeld are back in business and set to plague America for another 25 years.

Rove and the other Republicans need to be held accountable. If they broke the law, they need to be held to the law. They are not above the law, even though they acted like it. If we don't get them now, they will be back in 5, 10, or 20 years. We can't afford another run by these guys.

"We have Democrats in power who are cut from the same cloth as the Republicans. We have to hold them accountable and throw them out, too."

I agree about accountability. As for throwing them out - it's too late. We need them badly for the next two years. The next two years will be key. We need to demand change from them with the threat that they are gone if they don't, IMHO.

Bump - a curtail call for the Great State of Pennsylvania and the Great Pennsylvanian People! You got the ball rolling. You took the best the Republicans had to offer over the past few weeks and you chose change. Bravo!
