This country is going to go to sh#t if Obama wins.

The change is that you are no longer going to have change in your purse.

Well that was such a kind and compassionate response! Perhaps you didn't realize that I did not include 100% of the posters here? You couldn't put yourself into the 0.01% I didn't count? You really feel this is the best way to handle an issue you don't agree with? Just blast anyone you don't agree with? This is not the first time you have done this, and I doubt it will be the last. If you don't like what I say you are free to put me on ignore. I will certainly NOT attempt to speak for you as your point of view is entirely alien to me.

I respect your right to view it that way. I think, since the Clinton cutbacks on welfare, we are moving farther away from socialism. I suppose, though, that was before we took control of the banks.

You are mistaken. Trickle down economics started with Reagan. I remember it well! The rich got richer, and the rest of us got poorer. It didn't work. The money didn't trickle down. It did not start under Clinton, even though the Republicans want to blame him. His damage came from signing NAFTA. Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac actually don't hold much responsibility in causing the collapse of the banking industry. It was the loans to big businesses that was the catalyst. The loans by unscrupulous bankers was the frosting on the cake. They would do what ever was necessary to get the loans approved, knowing they would be selling it to a bank. That way, they got their money. Remember the Keating Five? They had a lot to do with the deregulation of the banking industry. Then, in 2005 McCain changed his stance on deregulation, and attempted to enter a bill for regulating the industry. The Democrats were not in power yet. For some reason, the Republicans killed it while in committee. It never made it to the floor for a vote. The Democrats had no involvement with it's failure. Note, I am not blaming Bush! However, it was the Republicans who killed it.

Exactly!! No one could do more damage than Bush has to this country and her citizens! Obama will get the blame for Bush's mess, if he doesn't completely clean it up, in very short order. Of course that isn't possible! There's too much to do, and it will take time. I imagine, the people from the far right won't cut him any slack. He won't be able to please them, regardless of whatever he does. It's a shame, but I expect them to criticize everything he says and does.
