Why Obama Won

Obama won on his own terms, strategically and symbolically. He rolled up a series of contested states, from Colorado to Virginia, long out of Democratic reach. And his victory reflected the accuracy of his vision of a reshaped country. Racism, much discussed, turned out to be a footnote, and the African-American voter turnout was nothing spectacular.

>>> Well, I hope you're disagreeing with the business "experts" who I was quoting, but maybe you too can make that claim. I do not know.

Yes, I was disagreeing with them. They never ever saw the "crisis" coming, and now they're insightful gurus? Doesn't fly with me...especially when they're only speculating.

>>> As an Obama supporter, naturally I investigated when the SM took a dive to see if someone would say it was because he was elected. None of them said so, just people on this board. Nothing I can add to that.

I've heard LOTS of experts discuss downward market fluctuations tied directly to Barry's election. There is speculation that many people will pull out of the market before years end to escape the tax increases Barry wants to impose. Watch the market...if it continues on it's downward trend, then I'd say that was some pretty convincing evidence that it's tied to Obama.

>>> What I can add is that the election was not "close." 7,000,000 - SEVEN MILLION votes is not close. Nor is the huge difference in electorial votes - huge difference.

When discussing the election you have to put it in context. It's not like there was a huge mandate for Barry based on his experience and policies. Quite the opposite. He out gunned and out spend McCain 4 to 1...Bush has low approvals...McCain is 72 and had a polarizing VP...More than 80% of blacks voted for Obama, many, simply because he was black...McCain shouldn't have been even close...and yet the popular vote was 52/46%. That says a LOT about Obama's deficiency as a person and as a candidate.

>>> The Gore/Bush race was close. Absolutely, positively this one was not. Even Fox pundits said he had a mandate from this election. Of course, you may believe it was close, and that's fine with me. Nevertheless, he won.

52 to 46 is hardly a mandate...but you're right, Barry won...much to the detriment of the country.

>Obama won the White House because the young and/or black voters came out to vote for him.
