The odds were stacked against McCain regardless of his strategy.
John might well be livid with Dumbya, first for the sleazeball tactics BushRove used in 2000 to knock McCain out of the primaries. Then after getting into office, BushCo basically ran the nation into the ground, with the active connivance of partisan sycophants. Small wonder the GOP got a lot worse than a "thumpin'" on this election cycle.
Astonishingly enough, it never seems to have occurred to the GOP that they basically brought the whirlwind upon themselves by sowing and growing Bush in the first place! Mark/Mirage also noted in another thread that GOP leaders didn't listen to moderates but apparently saved their consideration for talk-radio blowhards who castigated RINO's as not being ideologically pure enough.
Sarah was a hoot. Anybody listening to her Couric interview (who knew cute Katie could actually insist on substantive responses?!) would have been aware immediately that Palin waters were shallow. Anybody who dived in would get one helluva concussion when hitting bottom. But it's easier to blame her than to ask whose brilliant (heavy sarcasm) idea it was to enlist her in the first place!

In the end I think what hurt the Republican Party the most was Karl Rove. He lead them down the Evangelical
I couldn't care less what they say about Sarah Palin, but I think what this really demonstrates is the Republicans' tendency to eat their young and throw people under the bus as a way of shirking responsibility.
>>>there is a chance that Sarah Palin, being governor of Alaska, could appoint herself to serve out his term
Now, that would be really interesting!

“If, by a ‘liberal,’ they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people – their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties – someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a ‘liberal,’ then I’m proud to say I’m a ‘liberal.’”

Don't hold your breath waiting for change from the GOP.

>>> I choose President-Elect Obama's decision to consult counsel any day over erratic, out of touch, and gimmicky solutions from McCain.
Gimmicky? Like $500 welfare checks if you vote for Barry? LOL!
>>> McCain had all of the wrong answers, didn't he?
No, McCain had the right answers.
>>> President-Elect Obama is very wise and so he thinks before he acts...
Obama is a fool who's never shown any distinction at any job he's ever held. It's likely that he'll live up to his previous record as President.
>>> unlike McCain, who obviously didn't listen and acted improperly or had fools for advisors. lol.
I can't account for McCain's advisors, but he'd have made a much better President than barry will.

Now, that's one comment won't ask for a link for.
I did - LOL!
