"McCain needs to stand up and tell the anonymous voices in his capaign to shut up or go on the record with their names. He also needs to condemn their comments and publicly thank Sarah for joining his campaign, and to call out those who say this stuff as malcontents unable to find dignity and grace in the face of defeat."
She got run right over by the Straight Talk Express.
Oh look, now someone on the McCain bus is asking, "hey did we hit something? Let's back up and check" (bump bump bump).
McCain aide: "Aw dang, look at that. That gal is messed up." McCain: "Yeoooww. Shhhhhh now. Dominus ominus - she be okay, now hit the gas" (bump bump bump)
Seriously, I blame McCain for picking Palin without vetting her. An ambitious politician, no matter how unqualified, cannot be expected to turn down an offer like this.
That said, Palin made the rest possible. She lacked a lot more than polish: she was pandering, not forthright, and poorly informed and not quick on her feet. She proved her poor performance was not a fluke with a weak performance at the Republican Governors convention where without all the speechwriters and any new material she rehashed her old campaign stuff.
