Obama's girls have a nice school to attend; if public education is so great, how come his girl's don't go to public school?

Actually, the choice was yours.
If I was president and had school-age children, would be inclined to get a tutor or homeschool them, purely from the standpoint of keeping them safe--regardless of the caliber of the school system. It's not as though their lives will be "normal" anyway.
BTW, public schools are as good as the people who lead them, work in them, and back the efforts of the teachers. I commend ANYBODY who strives to contribute rather than yammer about school choice and vouchers.
Yes, I realize I could make the choice to ignore BO's hypocrisy. I choose not to.
If you were a typical Democratic President-elect you certainly could make the choice to homeschool and not be the target of teacher's unions venom towards the practice, as teacher's unions typically turn a blind eye towards this sort of hypocrisy when liberals practice it. However, if you are everyone else .... well just Google what these same unions say about homeschooling.
When BO actually makes a contibution towards public education let me know.

Very true.
Thank you, nicole_ftm for my siggy!
Ummmm.....no, the choice wasn't whether to comment on the hypocrisy of ANOTHER. "Either the public school system of Washington DC (which is making huge strides under Michelle Rhee) is adequate for a president's children and the teachers, unions and parents are doing their best; or they're not and Obama has every right to send his children to a school where they have a chance to flourish academically and Secret Service personnel can keep the girls safe."
Homeschool, like public schools, is as good as the intent and ability of those who act as teacher (or unteacher as John Holt might say). Ditto unions. If union intent is to act "en masse" for safe environments, reasonable wages, stimulating curricula, up-to-date materials, and small classes, then I have no ax to grind with teachers' unions; nor should they have one with me for comparable goals in a homeschool setting, regardless of my ideology/theology.
Of course BO has the right to send his kids where he wants, and the rest of us have the right to comment upon his hypocrisy.
Teachers unions represent teachers and their interests, not the interests of students, parents or their communities at large. If they oppose homeschooling (as they do) it is because they have determined it is not in the interests of teachers to have too many people do it.
