I don't believe it was a legal transaction, that was the thing. Because it came back to where the gun was sold, I honestly don't remember what happened to the store owner, I just remember they said where the gun had been purchased. I don't know if

Well, if the federally required background check was conducted and came back clean the sale was legal from the standpoint of the seller.

The same "slippery slope" argument can be used against any controls on abortion.

What does not reporting a stolen firearm have to do with straw purchasers?

Once again, I'm not arguing for NO controls.

Why is it not reasonable to have some controls over the weapon that kills the most victims most easily?

1) Weapons don't commit crimes on their own any more than cars drive drunk on their own

2) If its saving lives you're concerned with, look to cars, medical mistakes, household accidents, etc. Guns are nowhere near the leading cause of death in the US, although they are used every day for self defense, recreation, hunting, etc.

Do you hunt deer with an assault weapon?

In point of fact my preferred deer/coyote/target/competition rifle was banned by the Clinton gun ban, and nearly all of my guns would be banned by the Obama/Kennedy Gun Ban Amendment.

But why would that be relevant? The 2nd amendment isn't about hunting.

i can see gun control on things like an Uzi and what not.....i personally have no problem with that. i don't want my 4 yr old to get hold of something like that.

Do you also expect the government to ban drain cleaner or bleach or electricity to keep your 4 yr old safe, or is that something you can handle yourself?

I saw this on the news too. It is interesting that the guns they were purchasing were not typically guns you would hunt with or guns you'd use to protect yourself if someone broke into your home or what not. No these guns were like the big uzi type. I own several guns as well, all of them have a specific purpose and we use them frequently. I do not see any reason why someone should need a gun like that UNLESS they planned to rob banks, kill a lot of people or animals at the same time, etc. We need some regulation, I do agree that we should have to report or guns stolen and the gun sellers need to do background checks. I think it is stupid people or stocking up like this, total gun control will never happen. And if you against any gun control, wait until you or
