I guess since we can already blame Obama for Russia's belligerence and the disastrous economy, logic would dictate that he is to credit for me paying $2.13/gallon for gas today.

I haven't driven my car a lot lately.

I am all electric - heat pump - and our electric rates have gone up dramatically in the last few years so we have turned the thermostat down for the past few years. It gets chilly, but there are always sweaters and throws. My kids complained a little last year, until they found out that chores were a real good way to warm up - LOL! Now they just put on a sweater. I have budget billing so my bill is the same all year nearly $200/month. Yikes I know, but what can you do?

Be sure to put aside the money saved on cheaper gas today for higher electric rates later.

Here is my OP, titled with a wink emoticon:

You asked:

So how do you think Obama was directly related to the falling gas prices? I mean, they started to fall before he was elected, and technically it isn't his administration yet, so what do you feel is the relationship? How does it relate to the stock market dropping drastically after his election?

It was a joke.

Yes, we have a small airport just 5 minutes from my house but no passenger train terminal nearby. We would have to drive 2 hours north for that. We do have a local bus terminal but it serves a limited area - so would have to drive 2 hours north for the bus for Boston as well. All the flights from our airport go through Philadelphia or Charlotte, but since it is a small airport it receives some government subsidies and the flights aren't too bad all things considered. There is another airport in Balitmore - again 2 hours away - west this time - but the difference in cost is not worth the gas or the time to drive there and back. Weird situation I know.

My parents live in Yosemite -- so how "weird" rural can be doesn't surprise me ;-)
