I don't think she wanted to get him assassinated, but it was sort of like yelling 'fire' in a crowded room, or throwing fuel on a smoldering fire. Once done it is not easily undone. I don't know if it was her ignorance about a segment of the radical right wing, or simply naivety. Maybe the politics of Alaska are just fundamentally different that the politics of the south. Nevertheless, it should have been stopped long before it was. It was a factor in so many republicans voting against their own candidate and if that line of thinking - scorched ground politics - continues the republican party is in for some very difficult times.
