Oh my goodness, is that what this is all about?
It was COMPLETELY accidental, he wasn't directing it at anyone and he IMMEDIATELY apologized after he said it.
So not a big deal.
I'm not outraged by it. I think it was innocuous. I'm just pointing out that Scarborough is a guy who has shown absolutely no tolerance for any accidental use of a curse word. He's out there demanding huge FCC fines for it. Bill Maher expressed an opinion about the

I think you are really comparing apples and oranges here.
While the Rush-Oxycontin thing still boggles my mind and is one of the most stunning examples of pure hypocrisy I've ever encountered (along with Ted Haggard and David Vitter sex scandals), those are very different situations than the Scarborough F bomb, the Maher terrorist comment and the Obama flag lapel pin. I don't know what to say other than that -- the situations are all just very different and hard to compare.
And for the many conservatives that get away with these seemingly hypocritical or illegal or immoral acts, there are a great many who do fall from grace. Witness Ton DeLay, Ted Haggard, Mark Foley, Scooter Libby, Duke Cunningham, Katherine Harris, Jack Abramoff, Bob Ney, etc. And just as inexplicable as the lack of fallout from the Rush-Oxycontin scandal is that my neighbor and possibly the most corrupt politician on the planet, Democrat William Jefferson of New Orleans, was overwhelmingly re-elected last week. And John Edwards, what a d*ckwad, who saw that coming?
I guess I am tired of one side saying "Oh yeah? Maybe our guy did do this bad thing, but YOUR guy did this other terrible thing which is WAY worse." It's the same see-saw argument all the time, and the truth is that people on both sides are always doing bad things.
Wouldn't you think that with two wars, a tanking economy, an inchoate energy policy, global warming, and fundamentalist extremism that there would be more emphasis on nitty-gritty issues other than the fairness doctrine?
And what does it say of our ability to focus and set priorities that the media is making news instead of reporting it, kicking up a fuss, and some of us act like it MATTERS?!

You know, (and I know you do, old friend!) it is very easy to get into a tit-for-tat between liberals and conservatives on this board. I am not above sinking into the depths of stupid arguments over ridiculous non-issues. I think we do it because it's easy and appeals to us on some base level where we really just want to smear our opponents face in the mud. Maybe it releases endorphins, I don't know.
However, I also find great pleasure in pointing out the faults and failures of Democrats as well as Republicans and I do find myself learning a thing or two on occasion from an intelligent conservative's post. I feel better when I try to keep myself intellectually honest in these ways.
But why come to this discussion board at all if it's not to learn and grow our minds? Sometimes I think people are here because they like to argue. I get tired of that, you know?
(P.S. thanks for letting me rant!)
Tit for tat can be distracting--which in not necessarily a bad thing if the alternative is looking at a stark reality and an uncertain future which scares the bejiggers out of us.
Another old friend put it well. The board is a good place to blow off steam. Rant at will. Just keep it TOS/"rules of play" compliant ***rolls eyeballs****and don't get kicked off!
What worries me though, is the way too much distraction among the populace gives elected officials the cover to grab power and/or govern poorly. I want no part of being led around by my emotional nose. Remember the values and morals 2004 elections? Think about the time, money, and lives we will spend trying to extricate ourselves from the tarry sands of two terms of dumb arrogance.
