So are you saying that the Truman family would not feel that bowling is a 'real' American sport?

Now I'm just waiting for the follow up post blaming that on the Clinton's, or the new right wing scapegoat - Obama. Shouldn't be long now before we hear the bowling alley tied to Obama, Ayers and earmark spending.

I knew that story - it use to be in the 5th grade reading anthology when I taught elementary school - funny that it took one of our northern neighbors to point it out. Basketball - the game born in the great state of Massachusetts not considered American enough to be in the White House - you gotta love the logic!

"Given the cold Massachusetts winters, Naismith needed to find a recreational activity that could be played indoors and he preferred a sport that would develop skill and one that was not exclusively relying on strength. The first game was played with two peach baskets for goals and a soccer ball."

People are upset about the basketball court? It's not like Obama can go to the local Y and play. That would probably cost more over four years in Secret Service protection than putting in a court at the White House. That is why Nixon had his bowling alley.

I think it's funny that Republicans are upset about the money spent by Obama on a basketball court when Bush wasted trillions on everything from a dumb unnecessary two trillion dollar plus war down to all those military contractor buddies and oil companies to which he doled out billions. If the Republicans don't like the spending, then why did they spend all that money and run us into horrible debt to boot?

If Republicans want to fix things, why don't they clean up their party and run on a platform that we can really believe. Get rid of the immoral corrupt politicians and put up some pols with real fiscal responsibility and business savvy Republicans - like Bloomberg.

I guess they are too busy criticizing Dems for not having family values while their leaders commit adultery on our dime or protecting fetuses while they send us into a dumb war in while hundreds of thousands are killed and millions of lives uprooted.

What would Jesus say? Really, what would he say? In truth, he would say nothing. He would just shake his head at the Republicans and wait for them to see it themselves.
