This explains a lot...

Zogby Poll

512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points

97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates

Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet.....

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)

Do you have a link to the actual Zogby poll (not the howobamagotelected website)?

I've been perusing Zogby's website, and I cannot find a telephone poll with questions like those at that website.

>>> Do you have a link to the actual Zogby poll (not the howobamagotelected website)? Thanks in advance for a link to that actual Zogby poll. Was this poll commissioned by Republicans?

The report said the poll was due out tomorrow. I imagine it will be accessible on the Zogby site.

>>> I cannot imagine Zogby asking questions about Biden's past, or about Obama's history of getting his name on the Illinois ballot, or that Zogby concluded that Obama's plan would bankrupt the coal industry and then queried those polled about their agreement , or that Zogby asked in whose residence Obama got his start, or that Zogby ever asked a question about Palin's wardrobe, or that he queried people about Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter, or whether people thought that Palin could see Russia from her house.

Whether you can imagine it or not, it was stated that Zogby conducted the poll. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. But when trying to assess what voters knew about a candidate after voting, those seem like pretty relevant questions.

>>> Again, it is possible that Zogby was commissioned by somebody to ask slanted questions, but if he did, it pretty much would be the end of his credibility in the field.

How were the questions "slanted?"

All this is mildly amusing, but totally irrelevant.

Then I guess the poll, if indeed it is real, points to the ineffectiveness of McCain's campaign as they tried to tie all of those issues to Obama ad nauseum. Apparently no one was listening to McCain - guess his message wasn't relevant after all. OR perhaps the people just flat out didn't believe that Obama is going to bankrupt the coal industry, or that he actually 'started' his career at the home of two underground members, or that he 'got people kicked off the ballot'. Maybe they just weren't drinking the 'right' brand of kool-aid, maybe they prefer that blue stuff.

Oh, good, because many of those things are lies.

What a non-partisan trustworthy site full of factual citations you have directed us to!

"On November 4th, 2008 millions of Americans were shocked that a man of Barack Obama's limited experience, extreme liberal positions and radical political alliances could be elected President of the United States."

Sour grapes. And in reality it was the reverse, as it always is these days with respect to whatever the Fox-Republicans claim. Actually, it was Palin's limited experience and extreme right wing positions that voters were concerned about at the polls.

Obama is not going to lie down while he gets Swiftboated. The right-wing is going to keep getting completely paved if it keeps this garbage up.

I agree that the McCain campaign couldn't get their message out, but answer this question... how could McCain have gotten

Is this really just a reflection on the knowledge level of only Obama voters, or on the American electorate in general? I'd fancy a guess and say that if this poll were taken on a more widespread basis (including those voting Republican) it would pretty much show the same level of results.
