Just got this from one of my GOP friends - wanted to know if I wanted this bumpersticker - reminds me of the old Hall and Oates song...

I knew they were having a cow over their guns and money; I didn't know that freedom was on the table too.

I hope you get the chance to continue being libertarian, economically speaking. Hope that the current and new administrations get this stabilised; in and of itself, that will be a nice achievement.

What scares me is the need for drastic measures and the wild swings. When things reach this point, a stiff wind could send us over the economic cliff.

I suspect Obama plans something akin to what I suggested yesterday, at least in terms of job creation. I have a feeling the proposal is going to be quite ambitious.

Libertarian makes sense in terms of rights, but government makes sense in protecting those rights. I'm pretty sure most of us agree there is a place at the table for government, private business, private citizens, etc... all in moderation - except rights.

As a gay woman, I surely wish the right to marry, and that is a libertarian ideal - or it should be. Yet I also know there are threats out there, and it is nice knowing the government will at least try to mitigate the threats.

Government should function in the background, keeping things on an even keel. The problem is the marketplace skewed and tilted so badly the government has to take incredible measures to right things.

Can you imagine the reaction on this board if 24 months ago a 750 billion rescue plan plopped on the table in front of us. Now... I'd bet anything Obama is about to go well north of that figure with his economic stimulus plan - which probably is not bailout material, but actual job creation in

The last thing I want to see is the left standing in the same soup line as the right/libertarians, wondering what the hell we were arguing about all along.............has nothing to do with not wanting to be in line with those of a different political bent.
