How do you feel about Wal-Mart?

I read this op/ed (it's tied in with the automotive industry issues) http://www.indystar.com/article/20081119/OPINION12/811190304/1301/ARCHIVE the other day and it got me thinking. I've always heard about the lousy way they treat their employees but...it's their prices that keep me going back. Since I've moved to the South it's been even worse. They have Super Wal-Marts here where there is a grocery store in the Wal-Mart.

Now, there was an article the other day in my local newspaper with the mayor asking people to do their Christmas shopping downtown and buy local to support our mom & pop stores. Now, I'd love to do that but I have three kids and you know where I'm going.

Part of me really doesn't like what Wal-Mart stands for but the other part of me feels like "why should I pay more when I know I can get it cheaper there?"

Any thoughts?

So we should get rid of the government assistance programs so people can't apply for them?

Let me recap again.

The last Democratic President does not deserve credit for his good record.

The current Republican President does not deserve blame for his bad record.

The Democratic President-elect is "similar" to Hitler but you are not "comparing" them.

I think at this point I'm done in fleshing out your interesting views. Thanks for sharing, I guess.

PS Now I'll add that the last President was a smashing economic success, beat al Qaeda, and won the war in Iraq. It's so tempting to say more, but I'll let your views speak for themselves.

I'd rather let the facts speak for themselves...rather than try to shove the "square peg" of reality into a liberal's "round hole" of an ideology. LOL!

BTW, I've noticed, in all of your ravings, that you've never actually specified which of Clinton's genius economic policies led to the boom in the '90s...or why they collapsed at the end of the decade and resulted in a recession being handed to Bush. Hmmm...

I read your posts and they tend to be all over the place. One minute your making great points and the next your calling Obama childish names. I truly don't get the writing style, is there a name for it?

Can't we have a little variety? I don't know if the "style" has an actual name, but sometimes there are actual reasonable arguments or points put forward that demand a reasonable, point by point rebuttal. Other times...MANY other times...there are childish snipes and partisan attacks that get more of a tit for tat...plus it's sometimes just fun to push people's buttons and elicit a response. It's all in good fun...mostly. ; )

"Believe what you may about the great training at Walmart as being a part of the cost of the employee, but if Walmart retained a large portion of its employees, it could conceivably reduce the total number of training hours as it would have fewer new hires to train.

"I guess part of what is considered "training" is how to apply for government assistance.
