(money for roads, but no statement that "gas is too cheap")

Virginia's gas tax hasn't been raised since 1986. Senate Majority Leader Richard L. Saslaw (D-Fairfax) said the tax increase is needed because there is a $390 million shortfall in the part of the budget used to fill potholes, plow snow and otherwise maintain roads.>

Your third link also did not have a statement that ''gas was too cheap" though one of the representatives suggested that money for the roads could come from a combination of tolls and a gas tax hike as long as the gas prices keep going down:

Others, like Adam A. Stearns of Chicopee and state Rep. Ellen Story, D-Amherst, talked about a combination of toll and gasoline tax increases as a possible solution.

"As long as the gas prices keep going down, it would be okay," Stearns said of raising the gasoline tax. "I say raise the tolls, anyway. I never take the pike. I think the whole pike should be tolls."

Do you think you would've heard all of these states (all blue states btw) rallying to raise gas taxes two months ago?

In 2005 or 2006, right before Taft (R) left office, he raised gas taxes here.

"If states wish to raise gasoline taxes to pay for roads/bridges, that does not translate to (as your thread title suggests) "the left says 'gas is too cheap!"

Never mind that if more bridges start falling we will soon hear how Obama didn't provide money to fix the bridges. Some seem to think that we can just keep lowering taxes and the highway fairy will just drop down to repair all of our road and bridges. Now who's drinking the kool-aid?
