Looks like Chrysler, which is privately owned by rich Republicans, is pulling all its right-wing strings in DC to get it a piece of that auto bailout $$$.

Defense contractors. Big oil. Big pharma. Same thing for the past 8 years in which this Republican Administration has spent trillions and pulled every regulatory string to help its buds without any regard for everyone else. This is what you are about. While the top of the party goes on its personal feeding frenzy with your taxpayer dollars, they whip you up with issues like anti-stem cell research, anti-gay marriage, anti-liberal this and and liberal that. If you are a Republican making under 200K a year, you are getting played. Big time.
PS I am still for the auto bailout, but not to help rich Republicans. Rather I am strongly for it to help America because the terrible fallout due to one of these companies going under right now. I point this out to help Republicans understand their party's motivations and what their party is truly about.

That's a shame.
Where's this table you are talking about? I clicked on the link and found an editorial from the New York Slimes. No wonder they are going out of business, lol.
The country did better under Clinton only after the Republicans took over congress.
Once Obama lets Bush's tax cuts expire, you are going to see some real pain in this nation. Just wait, you ain't seen nuttin yet! Tax rates will rise substantially in each tax bracket, some by 450 basis points. Low-income taxpayers will see the 10-percent tax bracket disappear, and they will have to pay taxes at the 15-percent rate. Married taxpayers will see the marriage penalty return. Taxpayers with children will lose 50 percent of their child tax credits. Taxes on dividends will increase beginning on January 1, 2009. Taxes on capital gains will increase, also beginning on January 1, 2009. And federal death taxes will come back to life in 2011, after fading down to nothing in 2010.
These aren't tax increases on the rich, my friend. This is what you voted for - probably a depression. I can only hope that when the economy continues to sink lower and lower, the country will come to their senses and give us a tax cutting president in 2012.
Farmland peaked in my area this summer and has fallen some going by a sale of a parcel couple weeks ago. But a large number of land sale are scheduled in the next 2 weeks. I expect they would be down and may result in no sales. Corn and soybean prices have dropped in the last month and fertilizer prices have tripled in the last 2 years.
The comment about cap gain taxes came from a local farm realtor who said little old ladies won't want to write a big tax check on farmland that has risen from $300 an acre to $6000 and pay the tax on the increase. He thought after the first of the year there would be less land put up for sale except for estate sales.
