Throwing shoes at the United States of America... acceptable.

Putting a war criminal that has killed Americans through waterboarding... unacceptable.

WOW!

First of all, George W. Bush is NOT the United States of America--thank God! He IS the person who ordered an invasion of a sovereign nation, hunted down and executed (by puppet government) its leader, and unleashed, by deposing that leader, sectarian violence in which many thousands have died. IF the worse that ever happens to Dumbya is a pair of shoes being pitched at him in symbolism of contempt--that's far, far less than the gawdforsaken fool deserves.

Nor should we forget that thousands of U.S. troops have been killed, injured and endangered by the aforesaid fool. FOR WHAT?! BTW, those troops don't take an oath to protect and defend either the nation or the president. They swear to protect and defend THE CONSTITUTION. We all know what Bush thinks of the rule of law and the Constitution; it's a deity-consigned-to-Hades piece of paper and his regime regularly attempted to grab power and suspend precious civil rights; like the ones against cruel and unusual punishment or unwarranted search and seizure.

IF the waterboarding is used as an interrogation technique, how can you already know that the victim is a de facto killer of Americans? In what kangaroo court was the defendent found guilty? And if he's guilty, what part of the Constitution or international laws allows waterboarding as a vehicle of punishment? Not only is there no moral basis, there is no logic basis either.

I am appalled at the ease with which some people let slip the thin veil of civility when it comes to the rule of law and the tenets of organized religion. The veneer is a micrometer thick!

You do know the war will not end when Obama takes office, will you call him those names also?

Obama plans to shift the focus of military might to Afghanistan. Although there is ample reason to be concerned about our chances of success there (Afghanistan being known as a place where empires go to die), certainly the casus belli is far sounder than was ever the case for Iraq. I just hope that Obama relies on his ability to think critically (something which Bush has NEVER demonstrated) and use tools other than military conflict to neutralize threats to peace and freedom. If he doesn't, if he starts threatening, strutting and issuing ultimatums, yes, I'll express my thoughts and emotions in terms of opprobrium.

North Koreans think they're safe from outside threats because of Dear Leader Kim Jong Il. I do not make the same sort of fear-rattled, illogical and base-less assumption about BushCo. It's a non sequitur to conclude that further attacks have been prevented because of his marvelous good judgment, military prowess, and statesmanship*****gasp, cough, choke, wheeze*****.

Last, but not least, as Benjamin Franklin noted hundreds of years ago, they who would give up a little freedom to procure security DESERVE NEITHER.

So it's your contention that your son will be "tortured" by his government?

Presuming that your son, as previously reported by others who went through SERE training, is waterboarded as part of the program...is it your position that he will have been "tortured"?
