Obama: Quit Listening to Rush Limbaugh if You Want to Get Things Done
Obama warned Republicans to quit listening to Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats, during a White House discussion on his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
WASHINGTON -- President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.
"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.
"There are big things that unify Republicans and Democrats," the official said. "We shouldn't let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done."
That wasn't Obama's only jab at Republicans today.
While discussing the stimulus package with top lawmakers in the White House's Roosevelt Room, President Obama shot down a critic with a simple message.
"I won," he said, according to aides who were briefed on the meeting. "I will trump you on that."
The response was to the objection by Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) to the president's proposal to increase benefits for low-income workers who don't owe federal income taxes.

Do you have a link on that (only 3 of the 8 were Republicans)?
<They come up for review every four years. All of the attorneys 4 year terms were up. >
Do you have a link on the "up for review every four years" statement.
There is no requirement that a new president fire all US attorneys.
Yes, I did
>>> Who knows? There may be something to that, but Republicans lost the last presidential election for something other than the fact that the Democratic candidate was black. If Republicans wish to believe that race was the major reason why they lost, so be it. All the better for the Democrats, because that means that the Republicans will not do what it takes to retool their platform and will continue to shrink their potential base by not addressing the issues the concern the country.
Not really. If you'll recall the spread...48% - 54%...just 6 points...and this, in a year when the Republican candidate was 76 years old, the incumbent had approvals in the 20s, many conservatives sat out the election because of McCain's "liberalism" and record numbers of blacks voted because the election was "historic," and the economy took a nose dive RIGHT before the election...I don't think this could have been a worse year for Republicans and Obama only won by 6 points. THAT says a LOT. Deny it if you like, but the facts are the facts.
>>> They can focus on what their current base wants to the exclusion of independents and simply lose election after election. It wasn't Obama's race that made people want to a change.
It wasn't Obama either.
<<Percentage wise, Obama is tied with Gore at 95% (I stand corrected) of the black vote...but with record turnout, that 95% represents a notably higher number of individuals...motivated by the "historic" nature of th election.>>
There was record turnout across the board, not just among blacks. Blacks accounted for 13% (up from 11% in previous elections)
<<It wasn't Obama either.>>
So then why do you think that Obama won if it wasn't because of his race or himself? Why did so many people seem to turn towards him once the economic crisis hit? His message didn't change so it would appear that he was able to garner votes at that point due to his personality and the his pragmatic style. He stayed calm and
