Obama: Quit Listening to Rush Limbaugh if You Want to Get Things Done
Obama warned Republicans to quit listening to Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats, during a White House discussion on his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
WASHINGTON -- President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.
"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.
"There are big things that unify Republicans and Democrats," the official said. "We shouldn't let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done."
That wasn't Obama's only jab at Republicans today.
While discussing the stimulus package with top lawmakers in the White House's Roosevelt Room, President Obama shot down a critic with a simple message.
"I won," he said, according to aides who were briefed on the meeting. "I will trump you on that."
The response was to the objection by Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) to the president's proposal to increase benefits for low-income workers who don't owe federal income taxes.

It is traditional for all of the U.S. attorneys to resign when a new president takes office, especially if the new president is of a different political party. President Bush broke with tradition and allowed the attorneys who wanted to keep their jobs - keep them. He ran on a spirit of bi-partisanship and was trying to be true to his campaign promises. This turned out to be a political mistake. He should have replaced all of them, especially those known to be loyal to the opposing party.
They do serve 4 year terms. I will find a source for you and post it.
The reason why people say "dittos" started when callers would call Rush and start off by stating how much they liked the show, yada, yada, yada and wasting time.
Here is a link for you that confirms the four year term limits for U.S. Attorneys.

I figured listening to Rush should be good for something, lol!
<How about a link that says that the attorneys fired were democrats?>
Yes...I'd like to see that too, since the fired attorneys were appointed by Bush, one would think that they wouldn't be Democrats.
Even if your statement about party affiliation was true (and you gave no link to substantiate), there are plenty of signs that the fired prosecuting attorneys were not hewing to Republican strategies about who to prosecute and when.
I stress again that DoJ had a clear pattern of not pursuing justice, fair and blind, but some pre-determined agenda which prominently featured fealty to conservative ideology, party and person, rather than democracy, nation and law. That's morally contemptible as well as toxic to democracy. The ongoing investigation is pursuing valid issues: WHO made the decision to fire; WHY were the attorneys fired en masse; and based on WHAT--were the firings truly for poor job performance, or were they for poor party performance?
Justice in these United States has been a travesty under BushCo; and those who winked at the laws and Constitution should be held fully accountable for their words and actions. If they are not, then the law of the land means diddly squat. Might makes right. And the Constitution is merely a GD piece of paper, just as Dumbya trumpeted. Might as well trash the Magna Carta too, since an autocrat can decide willy-nilly who's guilty, who's innocent and pronounce judgment summarily (See: Guantanamo Bay, warrant-less wiretaps, etc). Shame on the nation for caving to such blatant power grabbing!
Worth noting--no response on whether the same behavior would be allowed from a Democratic president or how Republicans have been equally/more vindictive in the past. More double standards.
Bleah!
