The USSC will decide it, as they have in the past.
Equality will win. It always does, in the end.
"Can you prove that gays divorce at higher rates?"
I could, but it would be pointless since the discussion would then move into 'They probably divorce more because they are abused socially' or some such thing.
Sure they can as there's no way for government to know the mind of a person voting...they can't determine if

Saying that everyone is prohibited from accessing same sex marriage is NOT saying that equaity is present, anymore than the racists arguments a few decades ago said that.
Restricting whites and blacks both from interacial marriage did not provide equality to interracial couples.
the tyranny of the majority doesn't win in the end. Racism, bigotry, homophobia, fear mongering....ultimately lose.

>>> So if two people in their eighties marry, you expect them to have kidlets?
I guess that would depend on God.
>>> The arguments against are tenuous and grasping at straws.
And yet they've been around for thousands of years. Oddly enough, gay marriage hasn't been socially sanctioned in any other society.
<< The law is intertwined with the will of the people...who have a right to determine the values and morals of their society. I'm sure you can appreciate that.
>>> And in this country, religion is out of that second mix. Period.
Tell that to the Congress who beings each session with a prayer. I know you find it frustrating, but religion permeates our culture and heavily influences our government and our populous.
>>> Our form of government is designed to protect us from that very sort of mob mentality, and really... that is a perfect description of the opposition. Mob mentality.
The only "mobs" I've seen are the rampaging pro-gay groups trying to intimidate others. BTW, our "form of government" is a representative republic...in which we elect our leaders because they (supposedly) represent our values and morals...even when those values and morals come from religious teaching.
>>> ,Religion cannot be codified into law.
And yet there are ten of them. LOL!
>>> As I've said, voters may vote their beliefs, but government cannot act on that belief and use it in any legal way, shape, or form. Period.
And yet...there's reality...
the Church land was about RENTING out land and using tax exempt status to do so.
The churches have never been forced to perform religious ceremonies for non believers, or for those who do not fit their criteria.
But one cannot use tax exempt status to rent land to the public, and be discriminatory.
They don't have to rent land at all, of course.
Wrong on both counts.
Three states allow marriage for both gays and straights.
Many churches perform weddings for both gays and straights.
But..legally speaking, no religion is required to be married.
In other words...NO.
Thank you.
