>>> Many states folowed the example of banning interracial marriages too.
The supreme court took care of that, and they'll ultimately do what's right here.
Right...the will of the people is pretty clear, and it's being stymied by over-reaching liberal judges, forcing the people to seek redress by going so far as to amend their constitution. I expect we'll be seeing more and more of it soon.
>>> Wrong on both counts. Three states allow marriage for both gays and straights.
I think there's only two...and their "marriages" aren't upheld by other states...what's the third?
>>> Many churches perform weddings for both gays and straights.
I'm sure you can find a "church" that will marry you to a dolphin if you're so inclined.
>>> But..legally speaking, no religion is required to be married.
True...but that was a consideration for atheists, not the other way around.
Secular law prohibits gays from equality in some parts of the country right now, but not in others.
Secular law reversed the god inspired call to own slaves and to prohibit interacial marriage, and it will do the same in this case.
History bears watching.
It was done federally previously, to repeal the bans against interacial marriage.
It will be done fedrally soon, and the same will happen with the silly bans against gays acessing equality.
"the Church land was about RENTING out land and using tax exempt status to do so."
What do you think churches do to perform marriage ceremonies I'd mentioned?
If the will of the people were the only reason law existed, we might still have bans against interacial marriage.
but but but....nope, still wrong.
You have to actually FOLLOW the law if you want the tax exempt status.
The church did not HAVE to rent land to the public.
Yes it is.
