>>> So the effect of gay marriage on your marriage is that social sanction has been imposed on behavior many find sinful. How does that actually have an affect on your marriage?

How does allowing a crack house across the street from you affect your family and your house?

>>> The trend is already moving in the direction of equality.

I think we saw that in California last November.

>>> It's hard to accept by those who support oppression.

I know...but we still keep trying to get through to the gay marriage supporters who persist with their oppressive campaign to attack our social institutions and shove their political agenda down the throats of innocent citizens.

>>> When the USSC overturned the bans against interracial marriage, the majority of people were against it.

Links? Or lies?

>>> Fortunately, oppression never wins in a free country...

Thankfully the protection of traditions, morals and values does sometimes win in a free country.

Oppression never wins, no matter what fearmongering is used to try to create second class status.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

I'm told we are a nation of laws... and we have courts that interpret the law, it is their very function to do this, to settle disagreements, etc.

If you and I disagree and I sue the state for rights, you countersue and take the opposite stand. Court hears the arguments and after researching the matter, rules.

You have acknowledged marriage was not defined. In a nation of laws, boo boo number one, because not only is it not defined, it is not defined in the state constitution.

Thus, your side lost, because no demonstrated harm could be shown by the allowance of same sex marriage. Absent a clear definition and prohibition, given that there are many gay families and gay couples who wish to marry, the court saw no reason to deny them this right.

On a different note, I rather take offence with my relationship being reduced to bestiality machinality, paedophilia, and now... comparisons to the tantrum of a child wishing a different lollypop.

I would imagine you expect more respect for your marriage, and I afford that to you. Please return the favour.

>>leaving it to 'universally understood' means the court gets to decide exactly what that means, and they did.

I couldn't disagree with you more. They do not get to arbitrarily decide the meaning of any word.
