Civic marriage is an civil institution which produces neither.
Re: heterosexual couples, many can produce children, some can't, lots don't.
Never the less, my statement is still a fact.
Creation of families is not unique to heterosexuals let alone heterosexual marriages... or mine wouldn't be so much bigger than yours.
How did you and your partner create your children?

Why is this relevant to marriage? How we come to be parents is irrelevant. We really take our eye off the ball with such veering off of topic.
I was in Montreal several years ago, PQ ran public service messages encouraging gay couples to adopt... there are kids out there in need of good homes, and well, what counts is finding them good homes.
We can be parents via IVF anonymously, via someone we know, via adoption, via prior relationships, all result in us becoming parents.
We make no stipulation about hetero couples having children or not, it is irrelevant to the granting of a marriage license.
We can talk about gays parenting if you wish, but it is a separate subject from two adults legally committing to one another.

You have given examples of heterosexual reproduction. Look at it from the opposite direction.
There are millions upon millions of heterosexual couples that can produce children. There are zero homosexual couples that can produce children. A stark, fundamental difference that separates heterosexual couples from the rest.

Yet we have children.
Yet having children is not a factor in obtaining a license to marry.

Back to what I was saying, is that the main difference between marriage and other types of unions is that marriages, overall, have the likelihood to produce children.
Other unions, no. Not even once in a while. Now, some people want to say that these two very different types of unions, should be called the same thing. They are not the same.
When you start talking about adoption, sperm donation, medical procedures... well that's a completely different topic. I'm talking about two people, married to each other, mixing their DNA and producing offspring. And that is what is different.

Really, when octogenarians marry?
By the way, probably in the next 30 years, biological research will one day make it possible

It is frustrating, but it is also a point of view many hold, and so it is worth my time to discuss it.
It matters not whether *any person* is capable of regeneration, what matters is love and commitment. And however
