Appearing for the supporters of Prop 8, Kenneth Starr, the former Whitewater prosecutor, said the people hold the right to modify the state constitution by adding or subtracting protections for civil rights.
Court appears ready to uphold Prop. 8

Reread what you wrote and ascribed to liberals.

~Ma’am, you suggesting that I would "praise" the harming of
I wasn't suggesting it.
That misunderstanding is another example of why neither of us is in a position to go about judging others.
Interesting...obviously
Millions of illegal aliens and slackers, maybe, but for most people in the US, we've been able to get contraception at our local drugstore or 7-11.
Really? So our young have easy and cheap access? I never knew one could get bc in a 7-11.
I never left it...and a large part of the problem has PRECISELY to do with a permeating liberal ideology that glorifies single-motherhood, creates latch-key kids, subjects parents to criminal prosecution for disciplining their children, hobbles teachers/schools and encourages mediocrity, disrespect and disobedience in our children...just to name a few.
Glorifying? Hardly. Not stigmatising and ostracising as the right so loves to do, yes.
You ignore reasons why there are so many single moms out there. You ignore that the right keeps baitching about spending money in schools, on health care, etc. Well, if we don't make a societal investment, you don't get societal returns. Funny how that works.
Um...yeah, because liberals actually try to teach hypocrisy..."don't have sex...but here's a condom and a birth control pill (psst...don't tell your parents by the way) because we know you're going to ignore us and have sex anyway. And if you do get pregnant, don't worry about it...you can just have that little inconvenience taken care of at your local clinic (psst...don't tell your parents by the way."
Righhhhhhhhht. Of course the right approach is to say 'do not do it', even though they did it and most were probably damn lucky and nothing more. It ignores fact, it ignores what our young face, in favour of using ignorance as the model for dealing with the issue.
Yeah, that makes sense.
As for religion, you keep telling me this is a Christian country. If it is 'officially' a Christian country, then that does impact the free ability to worship as one chooses - especially when you also tell me it is all about 'truth', even though you cannot prove any of it as 'truth' any more than I can what I believe.

>>> Interesting...obviously conservatives seemed to support single-motherhood when it came to Bristol Palin.
Wrong. We support the single-mother in her circumstance, as compassionate people should, but we do not endorse single-motherhood.
>>> Really shows how out of touch with reality some people are when it comes to understanding their own hypocrisy.
You got that right.
~Ma’am, you suggesting that I would "praise" the harming of
>>> I wasn't suggesting it.
Sure sounded that way.
>>> That misunderstanding is another example of why neither of us is in a position to go about judging others.
Call the board...tell them we're shutting the place down.
>>> We're not omniscient, often in error, and as flawed as anybody else.
Some more than others...but ok. ; )
~…so I feel quite comfortable discussing issues concerning values and morals~
>>> Super.
Duper.
>>> I'm just not convinced that either of us is capable of accurately or fairly going about making pronouncements about the morals and values of others, which obviously is another thing entirely.
Accurately and fairly? Of course not...that would take an extensive and personal examination of all parties and the intricacies of a vast array of issues. To that end, this debate board is the equivalent of cheeze-whiz...momentarily satisfying, but nothing really substantial. It's foolish to make more of it than it is...a quasi-intellectual/ideological c0ck-fight...still, it's an avenue to exchange ideas...and those ideas come with judgments.

It's a wonderful world.

>>> Glorifying? Hardly. Not stigmatising and ostracising as the right so loves to do, yes.
No...glorifying. Television programs, movies, magazines all show...career, family, etc...women can have it all...it's a shame their kids can't.
>>> You ignore reasons why there are so many single moms out there. You ignore that the right keeps baitching about spending money in schools, on health care, etc. Well, if we don't make a societal investment, you don't get societal returns. Funny how that works.
We're spending more now, per student, than we ever have in our history with higher rates of illiteracy, drop-out rates, teen pregnancy/abortion, welfare, gang violence...where's the return?
<< Um...yeah, because liberals actually try to teach hypocrisy..."don't have sex...but here's a condom and a birth control pill (psst...don't tell your parents by the way) because we know you're going to ignore us and have sex anyway. We've seen the success of the liberal method...and it's nothing to be proud of. We also have hundreds of years of relative success teaching abstinence and instilling values and morals...hey, let's go with the proven failure! Yeah, that makes sense.
>>> As for religion, you keep telling me this is a Christian country. If it is 'officially' a Christian country, then that does impact the free ability to worship as one chooses -
The problem isn't with the ability to worship as one chooses...it's society combating those teachings and values with liberalism that degrades society.
>>> especially when you also tell me it is all about 'truth', even though you cannot prove any of it as 'truth' any more than I can what I believe.
That's why it's called faith.
