Kids aren't confused by folks who are differnt -- until they learn that they ARE differnt and that different is wrong.

That has been my observation.

As Americans, do we generally accept the principle that government can take away our rights? If freedom of speech were curtailed tomorrow, what would happen?

Plenty of people had moral objection to interracial marriage, but that did not mean they were right, and it did not mean society should enforce such restrictions, and it was rightly ended. I am quite certain many still quietly have issue with it, that does not mean their view should be law.

As a society, America, for all the melting pot tripe that gets tossed our way in schools, we have a funny way of showing that things do not mix quite as easily as we like to go around bragging they do. We allow our prejudices to work their way into law, harming those different from us. Not cool, not cool at all.

I do agree...the blanket statements aren't contributing and are just as bad as what "the other side" are doing.

If you wish to make a list of groups which teach hatred I'm sure we could do so.

I agree that the state acts hypothetically acts in the best interests of society, but that argument only holds if there is evidence of harm, otherwise the state

I believe the fact that the so-called "Patriot Act" passed, and that McCain-Finegold passed
