>>> Children of Divorce - Crime stats - What has this to do equal opportunity for women?
It has to do with the negative impact on society from single & working mothers...which, of course, are derived from "equal opportunity for women."
>>> Working women more likely to seek divorce - This suggests to me that women without means of supporting themselves are stuck in bad mariages. Do you interpret it differently?
>>> Careers And Marriage - A point counterpoint article, which proves what? Which side are you on ;-)
Not sure...it's obviously a complicated issue and worthy of debate. Do you side with the "wants" of an individual, or what's best for the children or society?
>>> Working mothers 'bad for children - This study was contradicted by 40 years of more comprehensive research. It also suggests women who work parttime help their children's eventual performance. Personally, I find this conclusion comforting as I was a ptwah when my children were young. Since I had my kids later in life, my company made significant accomodations to keep me in the workforce because they valued my skills. I wish more parents had similar opportunities.
I guess we all do...until then, I guess the children will take the brunt of the woman's ambitions or exigent circumstances.
>>> Cons of a Working Mom: Sick Children and Work - Sounds like a failure of parental leave policies to me.
Or split responsibilities...and failing both.
>>> Working mothers 'put children at risk with low-quality childcare' says UN report - See, this does anything but prove your point. Women have to work to support their families, and they should an opportunity to make a living wage with access to high quality childcare.
Some do, but not all women HAVE to work to support their families...and, as I said, while it's a complicated issue, on who's side do you fall?...the woman who works, or the kid who suffers?
>>> DID ROE v. WADE CAUSE ILLEGITIMACY? - Er, no.
Obviously there's an argument to the contrary.
>>> A blog about single mothers - What does this have to do with equal opportunity for women?
Again, the impact that those "opportunities" have had on society.
>>> Children of Divorce - Crime stats - So nice, this had to make the list twice?
It's that kind of significant.
>>> Family Enterprising promotes Biblical houeholds with premediated marriage - Go for it, if that's what you believe, I took a Catholic preCana class before my marriage. I'm married with children. I really don't care how others choose to marry or raise their children.
What?!!! "Premeditated marriage?" Who ever heard of such a thing??? Who'd want something like that...blechhhhhhhh!
>>> Welfare & Crime - Hmmm over 14 years old testimony before Congress before the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. If these poor, unwed teens had opportunites for education and jobs that could breack the cycle of poverty, maybe this could be avoided?
Are there tweens who are deprived of the opportunity to get an education or a job? Maybe there are other "cultural" issues pushing the cycle of poverty.
>>> As I expected, you've got nothing. Your pro hockey post had more substance. I do agree there are certain limitations to all our skills.
Hmmm...loads of cites...facts...studies...but from your point of view "I've got nothing"...why am I not surprised? ROFL!!!
>>I understand, as I didn't
I've been following this debate

I did not.

laura801 did NO such thing! You really need to distinguish between those who (via ridicule) do, and those who don't. Asking questions and sharing one's own perspective is not necessarily "challenging your relationships".
I did not.

I didn't say she 'ridiculed'.
What I did say is she significantly challenged both me and kate in ways that asks us to justify our families and our relationships, and lets face it, hetero folks do not get challenged in this way. If they did - if I did that to anyone hetero in this thread, I am pretty certain it would not be taken kindly.
