Court appears ready to uphold Prop. 8

Because what people put in place people can take away.

Do you seriously believe we should have the right to vote slavery back into practise, via a constitutional amendment?

OK, I've kept my cool throughout this, but when I see you come on here and claim it is your marriage that is insulted after everything that was posted to kate, well...

It it apparently ok for people to make all manner of assertions about gay marriage - that apparently is ok - but as I predicted somewhere in this thread, just let that be redirected towards a hetero relationship, and... stand back.

I'm done.

>>> The best predictor of positive outcomes is high SES, if we educate theses single mother then we can break the cycle of dependency.

Well, that's certainly a clue, but education won't do a thing to "stop the cycle"...circumstance is the instigator.

>>. I'm on the side that let's the parents decide to do what's best for the family.

Because that's been so successful in the past? Actually, this is where "education" would be most helpful and impactful.

>>> If having a sah parent works, go for it. My husband and I were able to balance family time and careers. We had access to opportunities, long paid family leave, alternate work schedules, access and the ability to pay for high quality childcare that many other don't have, and I like to see that change

Change would be nice...but even the situation you described is not optimal, and sadly, even that is not available to most.

< guess the children will take the brunt of the woman's ambitions or exigent circumstances.>

>>> Again, high ses is the best predictor for children's outcomes.

Then having a single-mother probably comes in a close second.

>>> A logical fallacy, don't you love those?

And yet there's reality...which liberals love to deny.

>>> facts = statistics that don't support your point about educated women with opportunities . Blogs, editorials, and a rightwing Christian parenting group are facts?.

You probably missed them by skimming...but it's simply a fact, most "women with opportunities" are absentee when it comes to raising their children.

>>> One newspaper article that referenced a limited study, which in said article that the findings were contradicted by 40 years of more comprehensive studies.

Sure...kids raised by daycares are no different than children raised in the home by a parent. LOL!

>>> Thanks for taking the time to play, and I'm looking forward to you next artistic moniker.

Well? Whaddya think? I was feeling a bit of the Dutch today.

Sorry, but we do have that right...

If someone could get enough congresscritters to propose repealing the 13th amendment, and then get 2/3 of the states to ratify it, we would have slavery again.

We both know that isn't going to happen though.

And simply, we have to move toward a civilisation that does not consider that to even be theoretically possible.

We live under a tenet that if government gets out of hand, we can toss the government and start over.

That... would be just cause.

As I already said, the California Supreme Court previously ruled that marriage is a civil right. The ruling declared that the state Constitution protected a fundamental
