Unfortunately, for too many of us still, the process is excrutiatingly difficult.
I just wrote a post elsewhere to someone who wishes on occasion to hold her partner's hand in public, but just cannot bring herself to do this.
Can you imagine having to wrestle with holding hands? I wonder if many can truly grasp this, what it takes to overcome that inhibition, one not of her making.

Perhaps you need to decide what your argument actually is?
I can't imagine - but would it be in any way similar to what interracial couples went through in the past? Perhaps more so in the south? I think, for many, stepping outside of theirselves to see what others go through is difficult. What I don't understand is why hetero people should have such a difficult time with this - it doesn't take anything away from us so what is the big deal?
Have you seen the gay duck saga? Not sure if it is a hoax or real, but if it is real but if animals can be gay it kind of disproves the 'choice' argument.

Nope.
For anyone that is unaware the Morman church put out a position statement on this issue. The Mormon church supports state unions for gays (similar to what our president Barry does) and full equality/rights/protections for gays in all other aspects

I had a foreign exchange student from German living with my kids and I for a year.
In finding simple courage, in being out and visible. In the coming out, in the standing for a right to be, to be here or there or with a partner, yes, very much.
I won't ever forget my journey through this, how it took 48 years to get there.
I know women who came out in their teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, and even 50s.
