Actually, it doesn't. Here's the full text of Proposition 8:

This initiative measure is submitted to the people in accordance with the provisions of Article II, Section 8, of the California Constitution.

This initiative measure expressly amends the California Constitution by adding a section thereto; therefore, new provisions proposed to be added are printed in italic type to indicate that they are new.

SECTION 1. Title This measure shall be known and may be cited as the "California Marriage Protection Act."

SECTION 2. Section 7.5 is added to Article I of the California Constitution, to read:

(ital) SEC. 7.5. Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

I would like to see an argument other than "it's a civil right" because I don't buy that one.

It did seem a tad odd, considering that I live in CA and have made no secret of the fact I worked actively on the No on 8 campaign.

>>> Yup, it is. We equalise, everyone has the same thing, churches can marry same sex couples if they wish.

Aah...so you admit that the gay argument has been a fraud. That might lose the pro-gay marriage crowd a few supporters.

>>> By the way, those who argue same sex marriage infringes upon the right of a church to not marry same sex couples also forget their position infringes upon those churches that do wish to marry same sex couples.

That's no an argument that carries much weight with those who oppose redefining marriage.

Nice to know your version of separation of church v. state = state regulation of the church.
