a bulldog night...c/p

It's another bulldog night.
A sinking star fades in darkness
and muse is dry as charred coals.
It passes over the white shadow;
the board remains blank
as I strain to hear the whispers
while the wind whines and whistles,
singing thoughts only the trees know...
they mock my path when I struggle
to catch a slice, just a small piece
and I'm almost there...but it writhes
then withers on the leaf barren sod
and the sound of silence hurts my ears.

This is such a magical expression of a familiar, frustrating feeling.

I especially like:

"but it writhes
then withers on the leaf barren sod
and the sound of silence hurts my ears."

Wonderful piece, Char.

Hey Roberta, how it comes and goes, comes and goes is so
frustrating indeed! Thanks for the lovely comment.

I liked the personification of the wind and the trees, complete with whining and thoughts.

I also enjoyed the unexpected, opposite imagery of the white shadow and the silence hurting ears.

Your muse wasn't dry as charred coals for this one! Good job!

Why a bulldog night?
