The justices uphold the same-sex marriage ban but also rule that the 18,000 gay couples who wed before the November vote will stay married. The decision is sure to spark another ballot box fight.

Reporting from San Francisco -- The California Supreme Court today upheld Proposition 8's ban on same-sex marriage but also ruled that gay couples who wed before the election will continue to be married under state law.

The decision virtually ensures another fight at the ballot box over marriage rights for gays. Gay rights activists say they may ask voters to repeal the marriage ban as early as next year, and opponents have pledged to fight any such effort. Proposition 8 passed with 52% of the vote.

to co-opt and redefine the traditions and social institution of marriage. Didn't you get the memo?

>>> Nobody is proposing marriage of children - nice try!

Someone will...that's the point. And you won't be able to find a reasonable argument to oppose them...that's the point.

>>> Nope! They want to be free to marry the adult partner of their choice - just like heteros. Got anything else?

So do the polygamists...and the child lovers...and the animal lovers...and the robot lovers...etc...and that's a slippery slope we'd rather not travel down, thank you very much. So let's just leave "marriage" to it's traditional meaning and intent, shall we?

There's logic in racing to pedophilia, beastiality and incest when discussing gay marriage?

the point is just because they can marry, does it make it right? for some people the answer is no, it is morally wrong to them. why can't people see this? have we lost our morals in society?

I left this board for a reason. Thank you for reminding me why I did.

There is no doubt in my mind that comments tossed around here are said specifically to hurt others, to demean, to devalue. I'm not at all certain the people saying it even believe what they write.

No thank you. I won't play that game, nor allow those words to harm.

Have fun.

>>I'm through with this nonsense, it's making no sense! Marry your sister, Brother marries sister, then having sex would be incest. sheesh. I'm DONE!<<

But it is absolutely not nonsense. It's the same argument made by gays. You have a problem with incest? Deal with it. Your moral issues with incest are no different than someone's moral issues with homosexuals.

Not to mention, who says they're even going to have sex? What goes on in their bedroom is not your business or the government's business.

Either the right to marry the person of your choosing is a right that should be afforded to all adults or it's not.

Well really since two gays marrying don't have to worry about having children together there should be no difference with me marrying my sister. It's the same effect.
