What's this? Reid wants to load the bill with pork? Load it with things unrelated to creating jobs? Say it aint so! We can always count on Obama to go back on this promise not to sign any bill laden with pork.

From the article:

"The bigger bill got a decidedly mixed reception at a luncheon meeting of Democrats, many of whom were uncomfortable with supporting a bill containing so many provisions unrelated to creating jobs, including loans for chicken producers and aid to catfish farmers."

Um, read it again. The bigger bill with the pork is the one the Republicans want to sign. Reid has introduced a pared down bill that got rid of the pork items.

It ain't so. LOL!

No. Reid wants a straight-forward jobs bill. Baucus, who chairs the committee that crafted the bill, accepted lots of Republican amendments that added non-jobs measures to the bill, and loaded it down with pork. He accepted these amendments as part of the process that got the Republicans to vote for the jobs portion of the bill (which they didn't really have any interest in.)

Reid pulled the bill because the Democrats in the Senate were appalled at the pork-laden outcome of the committee process. The Democrats still want a basic jobs bill.

The "basic jobs" bill was supposed to be stimulus bill that the Dems filled with pork...which didn't stimulate anything.

Rachel Maddow will have fun continuing her fine reporting on Republican hypocrisy. Although I enjoy watching, it's sad for our country that some politicians won't help to create jobs unless they get their pork.

>>> Your comment is a total nonsequitor.

That would be true except for the fact that it was right on point.

>>> The basic jobs bill at issue in this thread is the one that the Senate was working on this week, not the one voted on last year.

Yeah, I got that...and the salient point is if the Dems had actually directed those BILLIONS in the first bill to actual job creation, rather than their pork-fest, this second bill wouldn't even be an idea in the Dems empty head. There's also the point that most of the money from the first bill hasn't even been spent...but here are the silly Dems lining up to spend even more. It's like they're on a mission to bankrupt the country.

>>> I was replying to someone who either failed to read or failed to understand the basic information in the OP.

Ok...but this issue is broader than just what was mentioned in the OP...context.
