I'm not sure that there actually is a division like that with rockers being Democrats and country musicians being Republicans.
If there is, however, I think it might have something to do with demographics. People from more rural areas who we might characterize as liking country music (and I don't know if that is true) and residing in "red states" tend to be Republicans.
People from more urban areas who we might characterize as liking rock and roll (and I don't know if that is true) and residing in heavily-populated "blue states" tend to lean toward the Democratic party.
If I was brought up on a ranch or a farm, maybe country music would speak to my life's experience and my environment. If I was brought up in a bustling city, rock might reflect my life's experience and my environment more than country music.
Kid Rock is awesome!! I fell in love with him when he did that song with Cheryl Crow, and that one he had last year "all summer long" was the best!! glad to see he is on the right side of politics!!!

One of the few CD's I own is the Dixie Chicks. ;-)
Sorry to be so picky but...
It's not "Lynard Skynard" but "Lynyrd Skynyrd."
Probably one of the greatest southern rock bands to come from south of the Mason Dixon line.
