The surprises keep coming.

A few other things that have caught me by surprise. Some not related to HCR.

"The charge is the largest disclosed so far. Earlier this week, AK Steel Corp., Caterpillar Inc., Deere & Co. and Valero Energy announced similar accounting charges, saying the health care law that President Barack Obama signed Tuesday will raise their expenses."

The sections described below are taken from HR 3590 as agreed to by the Senate and from the reconciliation bill as displayed by the Rules Committee.

President Obama's fiscal 2011 budget will generate nearly $10 trillion in cumulative budget deficits over the next 10 years, $1.2 trillion more than the administration projected, and raise the federal debt to 90 percent of the nation's economic output by 2020, the Congressional Budget Office reported Thursday.

Exactly! This is not mandatory, but a person who doesn't think they'll ever need the benefit can simply opt out.

I posted this here because I thought we should all know and have the option to opt out.

Ah, remember the good old days, when a private citizen was not forced, under penalty of fine and imprisonment, to enter into a contract to purchase a product from a private corporation?

I'm sure Obama and Pelosi meant to tell us about it so we all would know how great this piece of legislation is now that it's passed.

I'd read about the LTC provision in the newspaper months ago. I think because it's not mandatory, it was given little coverage. It's not a big deal, even though reps try to make it look like it is.

When the regs are written, I'm sure it will require that employees be given notice in several ways, if it ends up that they must opt out to prevent the automatic deductions. No worries.

The dems are really NOT about trickery. We're smart enough to know that's not how to win elections.

There is no mandate that you must contribute for LTC insurance. No fines or penalties if you choose not to do so.
