Why won't Republicans join in this effort to promote civility, or at least propose some reasonable alternative if they didn't like the language?

After the way the Dems have acted, it's the height of hypocrisy (who knew?) to suddenly ask for "civility." I think all Republicans should band together to join McCain in obstructing EVERY proposal coming from the Dems corrupt cabal. Show them the "party of no"...until November, when we won't have to worry about the Dems anymore.

Isn't that what the Republicans have been doing all year so far? What would be different about them continuing to obstruct?

Wow, this really is not making sense to me. The Democrats propose a measure of civility and the Republicans reject it out of hand. And somehow some people think Democrats are not the civil ones?

What am I missing here?

Weren't the Republican Congressmen cheering on the protestors getting kicked out of the rafters in Congress? Aren't they the ones using all this violent rhetoric? Didn't Sarah Palin just say the Republicans are not the party of no, they are the party of "hell no" that needs to "reload"?

I'd like to know what I am missing here. You have always been a voice of reason and fairness. What do you think?

Oh...you haven't missed anything. My DH who is a Republican thinks that the Republican party rhetoric is getting out-of-hand too.

"What am I missing here?"

That democrats are decietful liars.

It's pretty bad when the democratic poster boy, the Bamster, is leading the way telling his own party he's going to rewrite NAFTA and GATT all the while telling Canada he has no intentions of changing either.

Democrats can't even be honest with other democrats. How do you expect them to be honest with others?
