Ok, I don't think Obama is the anti-Christ, evil incarnate, a foreign born usurper or a Hitler wanna be, but it is this type of pandering that dissappoints me. I won't go as far as to say that I'm sorry I voted for him considering the alternative, but I am coming very close to not voting at all in future elections, because it always comes down to voting AGAINST candidates ( I voted AGAINST McCain/Palin last election, not necssarily FOR Obama)
From the article . . .
"Despite the judge's ruling, President Obama will issue a proclamation for the day, May 6. The judge's ruling was a big step forward for those of us who cherish the separation of church and state. But we still have a long way to go, witness Obama's cowardly refusal to honor the judge's ruling."
Oh, okay.
I don't necessarily think he's pandering since he's Christian, too, along with the fact that last year he did the same exact thing and the far right had a fit because he didn't do more. I'd prefer he abide by the judge's ruling, but I don't have too much emotion about this one way or the other.
Ah, you know
As a fellow liberal, I have to say that there are many more things Obama has done (offshore oil drilling, more troops to Af., appointing Geithner, ignored the public option)with which i'm unhappy, than his proclamation of a National Day of Prayer.
Anyone can choose to not pray, or pray to any god, or gods, or anything. Even atheists. It's really not a big deal, and if it placates the Christian Right, that's okay, too.
