Partisans from both sides of the aisle can find numerous examples of government incompetence and corruption.

Wow, that was quite a load of, erm something, you got off your chest.:

"Why do you expect a serious reply to a shorthand unserious cheap shot attack on Democrats? "
No cheap shot was taken.

***Here is the headline the beginning of the thread quoted "While Oil Slick Spread, Interior Department Chief of Staff Rafted with Wife on "Work-Focused" Trip in Grand Canyon." As a person who voted for the President who broke the record on vacation time including during wars and natural disasters and appointed "Heckuva Job Brownie", taking a pot shot like that takes some real guts. Talk about glass houses. Sheesh.

"Republicans grow our government just as fast as Democrats."
Most of the time that is patently untrue. Reagan increased spending only because he was drug kicking to the table. Liberals have a history of play stupid tricks as they did with Reagan.

***These statements are way wrong and, because you are not a stupid person, you must know it. Even your beloved right-wing Cato Institute admits in a statement against interest that your last President Bush was an off-the-charts wastrel, and that was back in 2003 before he really got going. http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=3184 Here is what they said"The Bush administration's newly released budget projections reveal an anticipated budget deficit of $450 billion for the current fiscal year, up another $151 billion since February. Supporters and critics of the administration are tripping over themselves to blame the deficit on tax cuts, the war, and a slow economy. But the fact is we have mounting deficits because George W. Bush is the most gratuitous big spender to occupy the White House since Jimmy Carter. One could say that he has become the "Mother of All Big Spenders."" This is nothing new: "Over the last 100 years, of the five presidents who reigned over the largest domestic spending growth, four were Republicans. Taken in order of expenditures, they were Richard Nixon, Herbert Hoover, Dwight Eisenhower, Harry S. Truman (the lone Democrat), and George Bush." http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1272/is_n2634_v126/ai_20409139/ (and this doesn't even count Bush Jr.) Speaking of Bush Jr.: "During his eight years in office, President Bush oversaw a large increase in government spending. In fact, President Bush increased government spending more than any of the six presidents preceding him, including LBJ. In his last term in office, President Bush increased discretionary outlays by an estimated 48.6 percent." http://mercatus.org/publication/spending-under-president-george-w-bush Are you smelling the coffee yet? Or are you still living in a dream world in which Republicans actually practice the fiscal conservative they keep preaching to us, especially when they are out of power so they can get themselves elected and go on another spending spree?

Because consrvatives have standards and they use them. Bush was no conservative and all the spending the republicans did for those 8 years got them ousted quickly because conservatives will make consessions if the need is there, but will be happy to vote their person out if they fail to uphold fiscal standards as with what happened to Bush and the conservative congress.

***What are you talking about? Are you telling me Republicans voted Bush out? Last time I checked his two terms were up in '08.

"explain to me why anyone who cares about reigning in big government and restoring our fiscal house should not be mad as hell at the Republican Party for continually lying to them about their intentions to be fiscally responsible"
I am mad, but it's not worth the effort any longer. It's already too late so why bother raising your blood pressure over it? That's what happens when too many lefties areallowed to wastefullyspend $1,000 on programs that deliver $50 in benefits.

***You are rightfully mad at Bush. But then you are taking cheap shots against "Lefties." Do you even see how irrational this is?

"If you really practiced what you preached, you would be railing against the Republicans instead of being an apologist for them. "
What makes you think I apologise for republicans? I railed against Bush and opposed McCain's bid. The problem right now is people are too polarised to see beyond party affiliation and for that we have the liberal children of Saul Alinsky to thank.

***Why are you focusing all your energy against Democrats? You spend 90% of the time attacking Democrats. Yet you admit George Bush, our last President, was a big fat flop when it comes to fiscal conservatism. And then you don't even give President Obama a chance to show you how responsible he can be, just like Bill Clinton was in lowering our debt to GDP ratio. Even Carter lowered our debt relative to the size of our economy. Every Republican President since the Nixon Ford disaster has dramatically raised the debt relative to the size of our economy. Why aren't you spending 90% of your time attacking Republicans? Your "liberal children of Saul Alinsky" do a lot better time of protecting our colllective finances than your wastrel Republican Presidents.

"Instead, Republicans these days just listen to Fox News make up a bunch of partisan attacks."
According to its ratings, a very large portion of your liberal bretheren are also wtching FOX news and believe it represents a more balanced approach to delivering the news than does any other network so I understand your fears. I also understand the simplistic reasoning of the liberal mind in that it is easier to assume republicans are by-in-large getting their views from FOX news than to actually have to think and question why so many people would disagree with the liberal view.

***Huh? From the AP: "Of people who say their main source of news is CNN, 46 percent identify themselves as Democrats and 13 percent as Republicans, according to a July survey by the Pew Research Center (the rest say they’re independent or don’t identify themselves politically). The same study found that Fox’s main source audience was 38 percent Republican and 18 percent Democratic. To a certain degree, it stands to reason: If so many Republicans find Fox a comfortable home, there are fewer remaining for CNN, particularly in a country where Democrats have an enrollment edge." http://blogs.dailymail.com/donsurber/archives/3591

"These statements are way wrong "

No, they aren't.

" President Bush was an off-the-charts wastrel, "

Conservatives know this, that's why he only had a 16% approval rating. Bush was

And still no actionable intelligence? Nothing to back up those spurious accusations? I guess we've proven that the liberal claim that there was intelligence Bush could have acted on to prevent 9/11 is a lie. Yeah...thought so.
