Listening to the news here, I learned that as early as 2 weeks after the explosion, there have been Dutch specialized companies that have offered their expertise to

Yea, it's a pretty nasty situation in addition to the environmental component.
While Barry and Salazar were busy with pacifier comments/actions like "Boot on BP's throat" and flying onto location to get in front of cameras, behind the scenes Salazar and Obama were telling BP they could dump tons of environmentally damaging dispersants into the water. The dispersants held 90% of the spill well below the water's surface hiding it from view which is why the first estimates of the spill were only 1/10th what was really being spilled.
The administration's plans seem pretty clear. They wanted to hide the true extent of this spill and bury their failures regarding the rig inspection.
In order to do that it meant keeping outside parties away from the spill.
Form over substance is what liberals do.
Really! It seems the conservatives here think that if the same accident had occurred on the watch of a corporate-loving Republican like Bush, the feds would have immediately rushed in to solve the mess created by the incompetent corporations.
Katrina was a natural disaster--no corporation was to blame and therefore the gov't had to step in. This one is very unnatural and with no gov't-owned drilling operations, the oil corps should know best how to solve the problem. But suddenly the GOOPers think it's all the gov't's responsibility. Do you think that now they would also like the fed gov't to take over the drilling operations? Are they turning into socialists?
HahahahahahhaHA! The federal government is unnecessary until the corporations mess everything up, just like the financial crisis. Now they blame dems for INACTION.

The oil spread
Always great posts.
Unfortunately, as usual, the ones responsible for all of this (government reguators) will at most simply lose their jobs. According to liberals when politicians and so forth do a crappy job voting them out is sufficient punishment. I disagree, but liberals refuse to listen. It takes something this drastic before they begin to even acknowledge there might be a problem.
