You sound like Sarah Palin, George W. Bush and the Republicans. The Republican politicians' assertion that we should keep drilling offshore just like before is dumb de dumb dumb dumb.
First, deepwater offshore drilling was never thought through by corporations and was inadequately regulated. Look at this disaster in the Gulf. Just look at this mess. The assertion that we should just keep drilling deepwater offshore unregulated is dumb.
Second, even if we were to suck the maximum amount of oil out of deepwater drilling off US shores, it would have minimal impact on the price of oil or our energy needs.
Third, instead of continuing the head in the sand Bush energy policy, America should support this President in getting an energy bill passed.
Drill baby drill = dumb baby dumb, and more disasters like this one.

You mean, to harvest the single, most important natural resource to the world's economy? Why that sounds so silly.

Blame Clinton...he's the one who incentivized the deep water Gulf for oil exploration, and it was the Federal government that has approved rig designs, drilling plans and oversaw regulation.

Right...drilling unregulated would be dumb...which is why we don't drill unregulated.

Only if you consider 27% of our oil and 14% of our natural gas "minimal."

I'd like to see the folks on the left put their money where their mouths are and run on outlawing oil production. If oil drilling is so bad, you should be calling for the shut down of all oil drilling, rigs, production, and ban importing any oil. Go ahead, if that's what you really are for.
Personally, I think the left couldn't care less about drilling being dangerous, they just think they gain some political points
