Why do we think we can help any nation on earth end its civil wars?

We're trying to build two nations in Muslim countries, while the proposed construction of a religious center here is bringing the US to the brink of civil war, tearing apart our own country. Al qaeda must be enjoying the unfolding comedy.

But this is what happens when our leaders want everyone to "love us". Al-Qaeda has a well financed agenda. And that agenda is to bring about a world wide Islamic state. That is why with all the experience in this type of warfare we are so slow. We self impose restriction (ROE's)that make the job harder.
Imo we should Never get into building nations ever.
We should pursue the terrorist and their organization with fanatic zeal.

Quite an exaggeration, IMO. We are certainly not on the brink of civil war and our country is not being torn apart.

It is the Obama administration that routinely goes against the will of the people. He continues to push his agenda down the throats of Americans when they have stated that is not what they want, and is clearly showing he is not a leader for the people of this nation. He has succeeded in dividing this nation further than what was ever considered possible. America is angry with his decisions and policies, but he doesn't seem to care and does what he wants anyway. He's a terrible leader, IMO.

All the people of New York are asking is for the Muslims to show a little sensitivity and build their mega mosque someplace OTHER than ground zero. Isn't that what the religion preaches? What the Muslims are showing is that everyone must be tolerant and sensitive to them but they do not have to show the same to anybody else. It's disgraceful.

Funny how the Obama and the Muslims spin this into some sort of first amendment debate.

I can post plenty of commentaries "against" building this mosque too.

Again, the issue isn't do they have a right to build it. Yes they have a right to build it. the issue is SHOULD they build it....knowing that it will be controversial most Americans are against it.

Can the KKK hold a rally in front of a black fraternity house? Yes. Should they hold a rally? NO.

I am not and never have argued that they don't have a right to build the mega-mosque a stone's throw from ground zero.

They just shouldn't. It's in bad taste and if they build it, it shows that they have NO sensitivity whatsoever.

In forcing them to build elsewhere, selectively qualifying their rights granted by the U.S. Constitution, protesters are criminalizing ALL Muslim Americans.

Is that the right thing to do? Are they ALL terrorists?

When the rightwingers declare over and over again, "The American people want....The American people oppose...The American People are.....", are they including Muslim Americans? Or are they not part of "The American People"?

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Barack Obama's 52% approval rating for handling race relations is the only issue among 13 tested in two recent Gallup polls for which the president receives majority-level approval. In fact, a majority disapprove of the job the president is doing on eight of these issues, with his worst scores for his handling of immigration and the federal budget deficit.
