Happy New Year!

Good morning, all, and welcome to 2004!

Stepped on the scale this morning, telling myself that "knowledge is power" all the while. You can't control what you won't face, right? Yikes! The holiday damage has well and truly caught up with me this time... and I'm back to having over 100 lbs to lose. BUT, I know I can do it! After all, I survived 2003, didn't I? (ROFL!)

On a lighter note, does anyone have any great slogans for this year? It sort of lends itself to all sorts of terrible puns; I've heard "Two thousand four-ward" and so on. This is a creative bunch. I'd love to hear what we can come up with!

Wishing you peace, health, and happiness for the new year,

Mickie

I love it- the slogan and the way you greeted the New Year! LMAO!!!

Our New Years Eve was pretty quiet. My SO, his brother and I had Chinese food, watched televison, and waited for the fireworks... we have a nice harbor view from our apartment. Stellar evening- there was a Twilight Zone marathon AND a Three Stooges marathon on cable! But wait... it gets even geekier... we also had the Twilight Zone Companion out to extract every last morsel of info out of each episode. Thank God we have no Three Stooges companion, although by midnight we three could easily have filled in for Moe, Larry & Curley. Tata, 2003...

Sounds like my kind of party --- lolol. I was in bed already when everyone in the neighborhood started shooting off fireworks.

Blessings,

P.S. How old is SO's brother and where are you located again? ;-)

In my husband's family you have to be holding a dollar at the stroke of midnight, you have to kiss your SO and say a prayer before 12:01. They believe whatever you're doing AT the turn of the year is something you'll do all year long, so you should have money, love, and faith.

They also believe that your entire home has to be spotless because if your house is a mess at midnight it will be all year. I have to get used to such things.....

Happy New Year everyone!

That's a great tradition!!!! In my family it was just to eat blackeyed peas for luck. I adopted the cabbage for money from a friend down here whose uncle makes the best cabbage rolls I've ever eaten. I forgot to eat grapes. My ex-boss's wife was Cuban and said it was tradition to eat 12 grapes -- one for good luck for each month of the new year.

My personal tradition is to "bring in the new year with a bang." I am still mad at my next-ex for not being here to "sleep with" new year's eve. :-)

Blessings,

S_C

They also have Healthy, Wealthy and Wise- they eat Pork chops, greens, and blackeyed peas for health, wealth, and wisdome in the new year. I don't like any of those things so I had chicken. LOL!

I don't have a slogan for 2004 although I hope it's going to be better than 2003. Although 2003 ended good.

My bf got a call at 11:30pm telling him he had to be at work for 7am means he had to get up at 5am. Atleast we got to cuddle in bed with no baby for 4.5 hours. We had our New Years kiss. It was nice seeing as we weren't able to spend 2002 going into 2003 New Years together.

My 75 pounds is coming off this year as next year we're getting married (unsure of the month yet). Plus I'm still going to be in University for ALL 12 months of 2004 (can you say stress??). I'm going to make the best of 2004 but I've always known that 2005 will be my lucky year (maybe marriage and another baby to go along with University graduation??).

I, personally like... 2004-ward!!

Hi, Dana!

Sounds like 2004 will be great for you, although very busy... and 2005 will be even better. And I'm so glad you and your darling bf got in the NY kiss!

Have you done the all-12-months in university before? I'm really curious, as I'm just starting back part-time in the evenings after "several" years, and am wondering whether a heavy schedule with summers off will work better than year-round. Guess I should jump on the motivation train, and see how it plays out. All the best things in life seem to take a lot of time, and fine-tuning, don't they???

Wheehee! Congratulations on the new job! Wonderful news!

My SO's brother is of indeterminate age (at a guess, mid-50s), and we're in Baltimore. So, not close to La. OR Texas. But that man really deserves a lovely woman who appreciates the finer things in life (like Rod Serling, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk). And who has the sense to be in bed at a decent hour! So if Texas doesn't pan out, look in our direction... we'll crack some champagne!
