Did anyone see Dr. Phil show yesterday?

I was home, for a change, and happened to catch it. The radio personality has lost 88 lbs since September 15, and Thomas has lost 67 lbs. The young woman who lost both her sisters in the auto accident is back on track too, has lost a huge amount of weight since Sept 15 and will be in a South Beach bikini contest in March. Even that dark haired woman (forgot her name) who weighed so much over 300lbs and wimpered and *blamed the world* for her problems, said Phil was *her last resort* (attempted guilt tripping the guy, how foolish is that), even that woman....ANGELA...is finding that she only has one chin, not 6 or 7!! A viewer, someone without benefit of gym or anything but her own free will, has lost 69 lbs since the end of September.

So, how far have you guys come in 3-4 months? Have you lost somewhere between 88 and 68 lbs, or are you just diddling around here? It's do-able, but you have to understand that it's no one's fault but your own for the state your body is in. And it will be entirely up to you to change it.

So the doctor on the program said Thomas had probably added 5 years to his life, by taking off the weight and improving his general health. By taking charge of his lifestyle. Sure beats being in a coffin 5 years too soon, all because you don't *choose to* control the fork, and get out there and get some exercise.

If you have been *dieting* since September, and can't honestly look at the scale and see that you've taken off at least 15 lbs every month in that timeframe, or at least 60 lbs total since September 13 (this being January 13 so 4 months x15 lbs= 60 lbs) then all you're doing is playing games, and fooling no one but yourselves.

So which is it? Success, or failure??

*Tough love* What would make you think anyone on the Internet has to *love* you? She's just discussing a television program. The fact that others, in other places, succeed at their weight loss. But then some, here perhaps, don't. A person can comment without *loving* you, or for that matter without feeling anything personal for you. This is after all an Internet message board, nothing more or less. And topics come, and topics go. At least for the people on Dr. Phil, the pounds are going as well. How long have you been dieting now, voxpopulli? What is your excuse for not reaching your goal after so much time passing?

Oh. My. God.

Shawna & Rely both, I admire your diplomacy. I have never, in print or out loud, seen anyone be so absolutely cruel.

In my experience, people who say such ugly things are lacking in self-esteem and feel the need to put others down to make themselves feel better. Seeing the lack of personal information these ladies have shared, they seem to be excellent examples of this.

Also, all the boards I have posted on iVIllage (3... maybe 4) have been filled with caring individuals who look out for each other. Now, unless there is a board for mean-hearted ladies, I don't quite understand why they are members at all!

Now, this has all been a letdown for me. When I first read the strand heading, I was looking forward to discussing the Dr. Phil show, as I also watched it. Seems that the post was meant as a jab rather than a conversation starter. What a shame.

Doesn't anyone out there have anything original to say? It seems like everyone of the "new" posters who come here and end up putting people down say the exact same thing over and over and over again...for pete's sake, get some new material! I for one am sick to death of hearing the 'if you use more calories than you consume you'll lose weight' line. If it was that easy then nobody would be overweight...NOBODY! But the fact of the matter is that it is just NOT as simple as that. Anyone who has ever had a REAL problem with their weight or anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows this. If you all want to come here and support those of us who are trying to lose weight that's fine and it is more than welcome, but save the condescending attitude for somewhere else please.

YOU ARE RUDE.

How dare you come hear and say something like that. You obviously have some serious issues goin on. I think maybe you should get that checked out. Why are you even on this board to begin with, you don't belong here. This board is for women who are strugling with a weight problem and those who are supporters. You are neither. I bet you have never been overweight a day in your life, cause if you were you wouldn't be talking like that. Maybe you should go find a board thats right for you, like the self esteem board. Because something has to be wrong, otherwise why would you come here and put all us down. You don't know what its like, why are you acting like you do. You are completly saying all the wrong things. That guy from the Phil show had AMAZINGLY rare results. 15lbs a month is alot and would be nice for anyone, but thats not reality. It doesnt work that way for everyone. Everyone here is different and our bodies and metabolism and will power and strength all are different. We all are doing different things with different results. And were hear to share our stories and chat and support and so forth. If you dont have nothing nice to say then go away.

You made a good point about them losing so much weight and how fast!

First, they are on the Dr Phil show and he is pushing them to lose weight, he wants good results to push his program.

Well ambrosia, you brought me out of the shawdows. I have lost 50 pounds since June 15, 2003. Personally, I think that is pretty good. May not be up to your standards, but who could give a flying rats butt. Your not going to bring anyone down with your condesending remarks so why do you bother. Oh, forgot, you need a life. I'll probably get banned for this post, oh well, thats life. Stephanie 280/230/170 Atkid since 6/15/2003 (hi rely)
