Hi everyone! My name is Niki and Im new to this board. Here is my story: Weight loss and gain foes began in the end of 4th grade, I was going through puberty and began to gain weight. I didnt understand exactly what was going on so I became anorexic to control the gaining. After a while, anorexia became noticeable and to hide my problem I became bulimic. I was found out finally in 7th grade at 88 pounds. After my mother helping my cope I quit with the obsession over my weight and began gaining again. The problem is that I quit caring altogether and now at 19 I have grown to be 5-3 226lbs. I have decided that this is very unhealthy and if I want to be able to be around for the future I need to get this under control. I am looking for some guidance because I have never really had a diet or exercise regimen. I have either binged and gorged or just not eaten and spent my day doing nothing but running. I found out on Monday that I have no stamina whatsoever anymore and so exercise these days is going to be a struggle. Can someone please give me some guidance on diet and exercise.
Niki

Welcome to the board!
I will tell u what I tell every newbie. Get a nutritionist. It's the easiest way to get a completely personalized diet plan...

Drink lots of water. Water helps you lose weight and is the new "miracle weight loss potion"!! Read this http://www.dwlz.com/WWinfo/water.html
Exercise. Either go out and buy an exercise video (TaeBo is fun) or record exercise shows for future use. For a beginner, either Yoga or Pilates is fun. They aren't really high intensity cardio but you sure feel muscles you thought you didn't have!! I like to take a walk around the block after work as well as do step aerobics in the morning.
Weight loss does not have to be costly and you don't need fancy equipment. Check this website out http://www.dwlz.com to read more about nutrition and losing weight.
If you have never been on a diet before it is wise to go see a doctor if you want to lose more than 30 pounds. Their advice will be alot better than what I have said to you.
Good Luck & Welcome to the board!!

P.S.- I'm 21. I know there are a few others who are in their early 20's. These ladies definately don't talk down to you (like I've seen on other boards), they welcome you. We're not your mothers, we're your friends!!
Hi Niki =)
Niki, as you have a past history of eating disorders, you will have to find yourself a dietitian, not necessarily a nutritionist.
