People can disagree with you, voxpopulli (whether you write something you label "disclaimer" or not). And people can discuss freely, whether or not they share your slant. That's what I did. Deal with it.
Did you know, it's against ivillage TOS to accuse one poster of being another? It is. And I'm not "ambrosia pine" or whomever you wish to accuse me of being "this week." In fact, I've posted under the same name, icey_princess, on ivillage boards since the early 1990's, perhaps longer than you (??)
Now, as to the question at hand. I pointed out that Voxpo___(whatever her name is) has been playing around with the same weight (basic range) for a long time now, and archives for this board show that she was roughly the exact weight she claims to be now....oh, way way back in August or thereabouts. In the meantime, the Dr. Phil diet plan (if you want to call it a diet plan, it's just sensible eating and exercise) has been going on since mid-September (the 19th). Since September 19, many of the people on *his* plan have lost abt 100 lbs, give or take. So in the same time Vox___ has been doing abslutely nothing about her obesity, except complaining a lot and lashing out at anyone she chooses....well, those people on Dr. Phil's *plan* have actually been succeeding.
So yes, Vox (whatever her name is) is doing a *fine job* if her aim is to stay fat, and complain a lot. But other people, on the Dr. Phil plan for example, have ACTUALLY been succeeding AT WEIGHT LOSS and GOOD HEALTH....which, one would think, would be the issue here.
Being *an inspiring poster* versus being someone who ACTUALLY SUCCEEDS at good health and a NORMAL WEIGHT are not the same thing. How is your weight coming, BTW?
And WHY is it clear to you that "icey princess has never had a weight problem," as you claim? I don't see anything in my post(s) which would lead you to make such a conclusion. Care to share your reasoning, if any there be? Are you making that absurd conclusion because I pointed out that Dr. Phil's dieters succeeded, without crying about it? Now are you going to say those people on his program just wore balloons under their clothing, and then let the air out to make it *look like* they lost all that weight? Come on, get real.
Fat people can lose weight, and keep it off, if they want to. And they don't need to be whiners about it. The people taking Dr. Phil's weight loss challenge are living proof that it can work. And the only thing getting in the way of a person's success is the person herself, and her excuses for not succeeding.
You're making excuses, relydria, for not succeeding. You say, "If I had a personal trainer and cameras in my face watching my every bite all day..........I could lose weight a lot quicker too." The fact is, motivation has to come from within, and if you can only succeed with a personal trainer and cameras....well, then. But the fact is, people from all over the US, those who do not have trainers and cameras in their faces, ARE succeeding on Dr. Phil's plan. And you see those people on his program, from week to week.....individuals who have written in, shared their experiences, etc. So it doesn't take personal trainers and cameras. But it does take BEING ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR OWN ACTIONS and that's what this is about. Not making excuses. Not thinking it's cute to post, from time to time, about oops I did it again and fell headlong into a vat of fat! It takes taking a conscious effort, every single day, to make good choices for yourself and your own life......and that's what seems to be woefully lacking here.
And no, it's not "tough love" (I don't love strangers, and love is a serious word not tossed around like that). It is taking a little time to post honestly, about a serious problem which is killing Americans. Obesity leads to early death. Period. And it's ridiculous for some of you not to take it seriously, and play the *attack other posters* game, and the *oops I pigged out ....AGAIN* game. Life is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. And why a young woman, like yourself, would spend one minute fat and claim it's because you don't have cameras in your face and a trainer......well, if that's what it takes for you to take some personal responsibility for the way you look, then go to a discount store and buy some *security cameras* to hook up in your house, and then watch yourself pig out in your home movies.
But that's not what's motivating these people on the Dr. Phil diet plan, whether the group on television or the ordinary people like yourselves on his boards.....rather, what's motivating these people, and others like them (not nec. on his diet plan) is A LITTLE SELF RESPECT. Try that! It works. No cameras and trainers needed. Just self respect, and self-accountability.
Do you not see the difference between "not racing" and "not moving"??? Stop making excuses. In the time you've weighed the same thing, several months now, the Dr. Phil dieters have lost 100 lbs or so, give or take. And you're just playing with it. That's the truth. So acknowledge it, and stop *blaming* others for "racing" when they are doing no such thing. Have you even bothered to look at the diet? It's not about racing. It's about self-accountability, and no excuses. It's about healthy eating, every single meal and every single day. It's about healthy exercise too, every single day. And if you had done that, then you would have been at your goal weight a very long time ago. Instead, it's been excuse and accusation city. Every time someone reaches a normal weight, on the boards or from a diet program like this one, you rant on about how your way is *healthy* and others must be racing. It's not racing, and if you followed normal healthy eating and exercise practices, like the ones Dr. Phil advocates, you would have been there long, long ago. Are you afraid of success? Or do you just plan on making a lifetime about "going on a diet," oops "going on a diet again"? Which is it??
icey_princess i agree that everyone has the right to their own opinions , there are times when i don't agree with posts but i wouldn't think of putting them down because of it. Voxpo___ has never complained about her weight, she always gives posters a warm welcome and tries to help when they have problems. Just because she and others aren't losing weight as fast as you think, read or watched others do or maybe even did yourself , please don't attack her or others because of it. It's hard enough to have a self esteem/confidence while trying to lose weight and then to come on a board that you come to for help and support and get talked down to doesn't help.

BTW what's your excuse?
