I am a FRUSTRATED Newbie---

I am a Single Mom and need help and support and NO one seems to give it to me around here.

I was 350 lost to 230 and gained back 70 + when I got sick last year! The doctor put me on HORMONES and I swear I became a balloon, then I had a major allergic reaction after surgery that gave me steriods for several months which added to the problem. Between these two things I have been ready to scream. I have lost another 25 pounds back and have to take my hormones 10 days a month, which makes taking them bareable. I have INSULIN RESISTANCE and ovarian failure! Could it be worse? Of course, I recently got back test results on more blood work and it is NOT good. I have got to lose the rest of this weight!

I read ATKINS last week! It looks impossible TOO restrictive, tried Weight Watchers and forget it! So I JUST finished reading The South Beach Diet and plan on starting in the morning!! Carb withdrawal here I come...but with everything I have read on insulin resistance low carb seems the way to go..ANY ONE ELSE GOT THIS?

It still has a lot of rules but not quite like Atkins. I have the Leslie Sansone Walk AWAY the POUNDS videos (actually that and water aerobics is how I lost weight before-until I got sick), gonna have to get up bright and early and do that too (even if it kills me).

I keep telling myself I can do this.... BUT it seems so hard.

I am insuling resistant too, (PCOS) and low-carb is the ONLY thing that's worked WELL for me. Good luck with it and post up as often as you need to- this is a very supportive board!

Hi! I'm insulin resistant too. (PCOS) and my DR put me on 1500 mg of Metformin a day, but after a year of being sick on the stuff, I couldn't do it anymore. I don't take them. I too have heard low carb is the way to go for people with insulin resistance. I tried Atkins, but it was not for me. So, right now I'm on no meds, & just doing a low fat, low calorie way of eating. I give myself 1 cheat meal a week, so I don't feel deprived. It seems to be working, I guess. Not as fast as I'd like. I've been doing this for 2 months & have lost 19 pounds. It is hard, you are right. I just have to look at it as 1 day at a time.

Good Luck! You can do it!

Good Luck on SBD. I was on it for awhile. I didn't have time to do all the prep work for my snacks. And I didn't have enough food creativity in me to make it enjoyable. If you have the time, enjoy!

Now I use Slim-Fast products and do a body cleanse every 2-3 months. I hope this works better because it definately fits my busy lifestyle.

Good Luck & Welcome to the board! We're here for you so post away.
