Is any one doing weight training to lose weight??

I have done lost a little over 60lbs on Atkins and I feel ready to add weight training to help me build muscle and shape and tone my body but don’t know where to start I still have about 135lbs to go before I get to where I want to be 150lbs

anyone got any ideals of how to start

I have no home gym and cant buy one right now or go to the gym

thanks for any help

*delurking for a moment*

Milk jugs are a simple solution and very adjustable, just add or pour out water as needed. Plus, they have a built in handle and are cheap to buy, especially if you are milk drinker.

I've been doing power lifting for the past month three times a week. While I haven't seen a dramatic dip in my weight I've lost an inch or two and firmed up. I'm also balancing it out with cardio.

When you lift weights you build muscle mass. Muscle weights more than fat, so if you start to see an increase in your weight don't freak out. Also remember that muscle burns more calories than fat. It all balances out. ;)

Cans are also a good alternative to free-weights. You can adjust the amount of weight by using different cans.

Hi, I am doing weight training at the Y for 30 min. 3 days a week and then at home using free weights in the evening while watching tv..LOL..I am trying to lose and tone. The first 2 weeks of just using hand weights and doing aerobics i lost 12 lbs then last week i started going to the Y and doing aerobics the other days i didn't lose weight but i did inches. the other 2 posters had some very good ideas on free weights! Good luck =)
